American/English rock in Amsterdam?
Can anyone suggest an English language live-rock venue in the city for late February? Milkweg & Paradiso showed nothing I recognized, Waterhole & Jet Lounge seemed like possible choices. How about a local radio station playing similar music? The only station I found last year was solid pop, no rock at all
. Thank you!!

Jet Lounge is a great little place, you can smoke anything there. Underground or folk type music, check out their website or Facebook page to get an idea of who is playing on a particular night.
Although I am not sure what you mean by rock. very broad term

Thanks for the club info Marco
. The website sounded right, but nice to have a confirmation. Rock is a broad term, my mistake
, I meant something guitar driven, heavy bass and drums. Like they did it before New Wave came along. I have noticed a large number of bands playing in the city, but their names are unfamiliar. If anyone knows a band name I should be paying attention to, PLEASE let me know!

Jet Lounge plays rock, the only issue is that it's in a quiet neighborhood, so it won't be that loud. But the owner Mark (former punk rock bassist for Saccharine Trust) has a really amazing sound system there and does a lot with it.Eurotripper wrote:Thanks for the club info Marco. In terms of classic rock (sounds like what you mean), the Waterhole will have lots of cover bands. But these days, the kids are listening to indie rock mostly, or electronic music.

Re: American/English rock in Amsterdam?
Thanks again Marco, that will work out fine for us!
Classic rock might well have been a better description, but I didn't want to end up with something too folky or bluesy. The harder edge that Jet seemed to offer is more appreciated. The Waterhole could work, too. The Leidseplein isn't too touristy in February, hopefully.
I checked the net for OCII, that was one I hadn't known, good tip Marco. We've walked past that place before and never realized. And we found nearby is OT301, possibly not our style, though.
Great help Marco, thanks for the effort
