Thanks billytiz and bedge for the information.

Kermit, I totally agree with your statement (paraphrasing) that the day Voyagers closes is the day I stop visiting (not only because it's closed...

)
I've done about 90% of the tourist stuff, the remaining 10% or so are areas of total disinterest.
Why do I continue visiting Amsterdam? The cannabis culture, that's it... no other reason.
If there does come a day when all shops are closed permanently, that will probably be the last day I visit The Netherlands. Sad but true...
Regardless of my views and opinions, The Netherlands isn't my country, I don't have to live (deal with) the plethora of neighbors/tourists coming to my country and using it for their Sodom and Gamorrah, ala Las Vegas.
Something for the stoner masses to think about - how would your community respond if people began opening these types of establishments and along with that - everything the Dutch have and continue to experience? Here's my take - most would be screaming at the top of their lungs - NIMBY NIMBY NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard).
It's all good when on somebody else's property, you don't have to deal with all the BS = clean/repair/replace public use areas.
The Dutch, whether a majority or not, have decided that enough is enough... the writing has been on the wall for several years.
Some have mentioned what and where in 10 years... I would suggest that within 10 years, the RLD will be a shell of what it is today.
Like Boston's Combat Zone and NYC's Times Square, the RLD will also change, it's only a matter of time.... and like it or not, accept it or not, the time has come.
Some Europeans (especially those living on island nations) might want to think about preparing their teener set, that quite possibly when they become of age, there may not be what was once a stoner/drinker/whoring playground called Holland.
