Smoking in "public"?

Hi, i'm hoping some of you out there could give your points if view!!!

Me and the hubby are thinking of planning another trip to Amsterdam but we always have the same argument on our trips " Smoking in public"

My view -When wandering around (or even sat on a nice canal bench), as long as we are not in a massively busy area we are ok to be quietly smoking a joint.

His view - We will be shot dead by the police....well maybe not quite so dramatic but he thinks its a big no no

Due to most hotels now being non smoking, I can't always wait for the first coffeeshop for my first smoke in the morning, and if the closest coffeeshop is a walk away from our room I usually need a top up smoke closer to our room before bed at night.

What do you think?

I agree with your point of view. As long as you're discreet and not in anybody's face I think it's okay to toke one up in "public".
As for the cops, I'm pretty sure they'll just give you a warning or a ticket if you're unlucky

1- on what you look like
2- your age
3-the location of your bench you sitting at
4-time of day

1-if you look Shady or like a killer just sitting there and cop walk or bike by ya all..well you probably getting a ticket or going to police station ...
2-if your a young person in 20's good change your gonna get a tickets if your older in 40-50 or even 60 good change youll get a slap on the hand for smoking or even drinknig a beer in public
3-location ...if you in fare part of town and not sitting at dam square or around you safe!
4- time if your sitting by a canal at 4-5am any where good change if police come by they ll look at you from car and say nothing and just keep going < if you look shady well you may have a problem with them..if your sitting at Vondel park let's say same time you may also have a problem either with police or some bum < homeless or a fag!! Vondel park is a safe place during the day till around 12-1am and safe place to smoke all year beside few days like Queens day < park turn into a Family thing and other family day during the summer i would skip on smoking in the park so yeah rant over hope that helps...<my point of view...

Each trip iv seem more then 10 people (mostly blacks) thinking you can just walk around and smoke or drink!! most also didnt get a ticket but got attention by more police and ended up getting arrested cant give altitude to cops thinking your home and fuck the world!! cause you vacantion can end fast < iv seen it happen !!

I only give altitude to the cops when my getaway vehicle is a helicopter.
