THAI, 3 strains, grow & smoke report

Post by EasilySuede »

I see Thai like lager. The cheap "mass produced" stuff sold in the CSs would equate to Budweiser; but given the proper care, ingredients, etc. you could create a Pilsner Urquel- still a lager, but on a whole 'nother level. To that end, here's a write-up from icmag...

"Thank you for the interest and My Thais are in jars curing nicely. I have found a number of interesting phenos in my first sample group and can report that the results were promissing. The high-level summary is as follows:
Mama Thai:
There were green and purple phenos ranging from fruity citrus to ripe tropical bubblegum bouquet; very sweet. The plants grow fairly columar with moderate side branching and medium nodes. 15 hours of light triggered flowering, so not appropriate for the tropics but good traits for north grows where winter is slow to settle in, and indoor. Resin was heavy, and buds were medium density. There were slight hermie traits observed in all females, some more pronounce then others. Smoke is smooth and sweet, effect is uplifting, clear and medium duration (1.5-2 hrs). Overall it is a good strain with nice potential that grows very uniform with a flower time of around 12 weeks.
Thai Stick (GN Landrace Collection):
Green phenos only, lime and dark, heavy branching with a range of bouquets that included cat-piss, lemon, and shunk. The bud density was medium, plant height could easily exceed 12 feet in tropical conditions and flowering was trigger at less then 12 hrs. This is a tropical strain not well suited for commercial gardens in the North. Effect is positive, active, and social, lasting for about 1.5-2 hrs. There were a few pheno that exhibited extreme resin production that coated the fan leaf stems, and had large yield potential. In my opinion these require full tropical sun to reach their potential and the specimens finished under artificial light did not perform well.
Koh Chang:
Green phenos only, medium branching with some height variation. Bouquet ranged from citrus to Toottie Fruitie sweet gum, with light/medium bud density. Similar to the Thai Stick these plants did not flower until photo period was <= 12 hrs making them well suited for tropical growing. The females finished under artificial light did not perform as well as those flowered outdoors. Effect was psychadelic, energetic, and very uplifting for the mind and body, lasting 2-3 hrs in duration. This was my favorite overall from the bunch, and the cross to the extreme resin Thai Stick should prove interesting.

btw, Cannabiogen and Ace Seeds (they share and re-sell each others genetics) use a Meao Thai in their crosses, such as VietBlackxThai and Destroyer...

Ace even uses the well-regarded (above) Koh Chang crossed to a Meao to create their Double Thai
