Floris France Hotel, Central Amsterdam

Post by stonedwolf »

FLORIS FRANCE Hotel, Oudezijds Kolk 11, Amsterdam, (Opposite Central Station, adjacent to Red Light District)

Next to Molly Malones if you're familiar with that Guinness-soaked pub.

Have this place booked for two nights later this week.

Looks a little basic, dozens of reviews say the WI-FI never works (doesn't bother me), and some rooms don't have windows. Equal amount of reviews that moan about it balanced by other with the huge recommendation "not as bad as the bad reviews make out". Heh. Looks like some rooms can get a lot of street noise so taking ear plugs among the other essentials.

But it's very cheap and directly opposite Central Station. Could not be more convenient - having been on the outskirts before location is very important to me.

Cheapness is relative. Have seen people online who spent €200-300 per night and were hugely disappointed. I got it for €90 a night and then promptly found a different travel site where I could have got it for €80. Oh well.

Will be updating this thread at the weekend once I've stayed there.

It's decent enough there to use as a 'base' camp prior to your assault on the weed mountain.
Big bonus point is that it's only about 20m around the corner from Voyagers so you've got good gear right on your doorstep.
Enjoy your experience :D

I use to stay here back in the late 1990s. It was clean, reliable, adequate, professionally run, and very close to Central Station. It's location makes it efficient for a one or two night stay. Single rooms are small but a step up from most hostel / two star places.
