imo thats alot of money for 2 nights, if you dont care about smoke, try Priceline/NYOP, idf you decide to ttry priceline i suggest zone 2 or 3 and bid for a 4 or 5 * Hotel, you will most likely ay the same amout maybe less, on hotwire a quick search of your date 5-7 april

And also have a look at booking.com. They have always been the cheapest and I see 4 & 5 star hotels for cheaper on your dates.

Thanks guys. Not sure what price you were seeing, but last night there was a single room for about £70pn, which sounded about right for short ish notice, but it was sold out this morning, so got a bit spooked & booked another place quick.€220 for 2n. More than I wanted to pay for shared bathroom, but managed to find a flight for £93, which is £30/40 less than I was expecting, so swings & roundabouts.
Obviously have a lot to learn about the art of finessing a bargain crash pad :D

I stayed there many years ago & found it to be a acceptable. Though I remember them cramming us into a room in the attic, which was no larger than a closet. I remember being awakened early in the morning by a man who entered our room after only a single knock on the door. He walked between the 2 beds..opened the window & rigged the pully outside with a rope before yelling down to the guy on the street. Apparently the needed to hoist something up...lol. A bizarre experience, but an experience nonetheless. It was only my 2nd trip to the dam; so I basically figured this was common in Europe & just rolled with it.
The location is great...the hotel average; though I know they've made some improvements since I've stayed there. I do recall hearing some stories of folks having stuff stolen from their rooms; alegedly by housekeeping, but I didn not have any issues during my stay. I think there are better options in that area in the same price range.

Pretty sure I've got the same room (elsewhere) :D

Here:

Location OK, not Picadilly Circus and not too far to walk if I miss the last tram (how late do they run anyway?)
I've got till April 1st to cancel, so might keep looking for a better deal, but sorted if not.

The link didn't take me to hotel just a list of available ones for your dates. Trams stop running at 00:30 but you can't always rely on the last one of the evening. Besides unless you are in De Pijp, still not fat, the Avenue is not more than a 20 minute walk form anywhere in the center.
