So I don't do cows milk straight, but do organic plain yogurt and kefir. (I was motivated to change they way I eat because my gut microbiology was totally fucked, so I don't eat anything high in refined carbs including most starches, beans, and even natural sugars.)

Do you incorporate any natural probiotics? (Unpasturized Sour Kraut or pickles, other fermented things?) Those have had huge positive impacts for me.

One of my favorite positive side effects is that I have grown a whole new head of thicker, shinier hair. My hair was always kind of thin and mousy-colored. Now it's got all these red highlights and it really looks like I have twice as much.
I am in the middle of finding the perfect dairy milk replacement...my research tells me that hemp milk is likely the best because it has omega 3 fats...

So far my love from dairy has only gone as far as soy milk which is good for your cholesterol levels and can help with bone strength. soy also has more protein than other non dairy milk...but many foods we have in our eating plan now contain soy already....so I think we will move on to hemp milk next week and see how that goes.

For probiotics it is a struggle...trying to get pickes into my diet but I've also heard that dark chocolate works too :)

Dark chocolate won't actually do pro-biotic things, but is otherwise good.

Have you tried unpasteurized Apple Cider Vinegar? That's a good pro-biotic source (For salads and whatnot? You can even just drink it.) The brand here in the U.S. is Braggs. (In Switzerland I used to be able to get all kinds of local ACV that were even better.) I can give you dressing recipes.

a giant "FABULOUS!" to everyone who's doing it!

this is what i do for a living (my steady paycheck anyways...lol...)

here are a couple of truths i've discovered in my years:

*we are all great at dieting
*we are all great at over-indulging
*when we are done dieting, we over-indulge
*when we are done over-indulging, we diet

Guess where goal weight is? It is neither dieting nor over-indulging...it is in the middle

We shouldn't "diet" ...we should learn to eat nutritiously...and we certainly shouldn't abstain completely...because that leads to binge eating later...maybe months later...but in most cases, it happens...I see it daily

Learn to eat the foods that are problematic... ...eating them mindfully and portion-controlled...is the key. Otherwise, we are back where we started.

Learn skills to maintain your weight as you lose it...it is the missing link. It is why most people gain it back.

HOW will you keep it off?

Know this: What you do to take off the weight is what you have to do to keep it off. FOREVER.

Are you willing? Forever is a looooooooooooooong time......... just sayin'...

Do what you need to get the kick start...but I strongly suggest adopting/adapting a healthy, nutritious way of eating!

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK...WEIGHT LOSS IS ONE OF THE BEST WAYS TO "UP" THAT HEALTH!!!!! (and completely within your own control)

WOW! Best advice and post in this whole thread. I agree with everything you stated and can tell you really do know your stuff on this subject.
I myself have yoyoed dieted for many years, I have been 319lbs and I have been 205lbs(10%bf)...I am awesome at losing weight I know where most food land on the glycemic scale, I can design and maintain an effective weight/cardio program, what I cannot seem to do is maintain...
Anyways just saw this and had to respond don't wanna jack your thread canucks, keep up keeping up.

My new fav super food is hemp hearts...holy shit they are super good for you and an incredibly untapped resource for healthy eating and rapid weight loss that is unlikely to be regained,

Just watch out for starches :D

Well after plateauing for a couple months, decided to change things up. Started a crazy cardio workout called insanity...and holy fuck it is insane, and fun!

All about xtreme interval training.

Needed an hour to recover after the first 25 min workout, and that was only the fitness test lol

Awesome Cisco!!!

Yeah, I've done a couple punching sessions, leaves the arms feeling like rubber.

After a short break from weights for interval training I'm back to 90 mins gym sessions.

Holy fuck am I sore today.

Planning to do the stairs at voyagers ten times every morning to stay active on trip.

Going to break 290 lbs before we leave, that would have me down over 85 lbs in about 16 months!

That interval training fucked up my back, I'm still too heavy for it.

I always try keep my work outs to 40-60 mns , mixing it up with super sets , tri sets , (chest, shoulders, arms, back etc) also some circuits , it's doing the job as you see from the pic tonight lol

Fuck the stairs bro your on hol enjoy , your muscles body need time to recover , first trip away I had great intentions of doing something , a hand full trips later and I do nothing on hols , and amazingly feel stronger for it on the return

Yer both right...

On weight days its 45 mns of weights, 20 mins of cardio and a nice 10 mn stretch

On cardio days, 60 mins cardio, broken into 3x diff machines... 10 mns of abs on mat, and then 10 mins stretch... I rounded up a bit to 90 :)

And thanks GM, really appreciate the kind words :)

Have you considered 2-a-days? You're abdominal is biggest set of muscles so the tissue can be ripped daily, with no need for longer recovery times like when you only do arms or legs once a week.
A crunch regiment that is high in reps, but isolates various abs, worked very well for me. Start with what you can but increase reps as you can. The trick (hard part) is sticking to it daily.... Cuz some days they don't feel repaired but they are, haha... Maybe 5/7 days close enough tho
