It amazes me that people don't understand that prohibition does not work.

I say this half joking and half serious but maybe this is the new idea being spread about for the day that cannabis ever does become legal.
If they have a new enemy then they get to keep their jobs and their big budgets and the legalization of Cannabis will not hurt their career or incomes.
Medical Cannabis is taking it's place slowly around the world and even our backwards Federal Gov has got to end the suffering and catch on sooner or later.
I have never been a tobacco smoker and never researched it but if it has any health benefits I am completely unaware of them so maybe this is the first step in creating and giving people something new to fear.
This idea first originated from somewhere and ideas of this type that so surely do benefit a few agencies makes me wonder.

Cannabis only became illegal because after Prohibition the ex-teetoteler Anslinger needed a new enemy. He saw blacks and mexicans smoking herb and said, "Hey, that's the thing to hit." So finding a new enemy for the institution is not a bad idea, or an unused one. The only medical benefits of Tobacco are the relief of stress and appetite control. However, having your voicebox or lungs or colon or life removed for these benefits doesn't seem very lucrative. And I am a 3 pack a day, pall mall unfiltered smoker. Shrug. The revolution will come, and de oppressors will pay like the po' buckra did long ago.

In 1933 Cannibus became illegal in America after an extensive lobbying campaign by the liquor industry. They saw their profits dropping as more and more people turned to pot during the Great Depression due to the expense of liquor. So they used their money to ban pot. Pot had no champions, no business interests and was therefore easy to villify, plus the politicians got campaign contributions from liquor companies. It was a no brainer.

The hypocrisy of politicians makes me sick. Its beyond me how anyone can believe that prohibition works as a policy, its not exactly difficult to get drugs is it? All they have done is put a multi Billion pounds per year (in this country alone) into the hands of violent unscrupulous organised criminal gangs. Thus enhancing their power & hold over our society. There is a stigma attached to using drugs & so much misinformation is spread that prohibition can be said to be responsible for many deaths. Information (real information) is not made readily availabe. Also the fact that drugs are unregulated means potency can vary wildly which can lead to OD situations. Then there's the fact than many drugs are adulterated with all sorts of nasty shit....soapbar anyone?
They've even started fucking up bud the way they did with hash. They are putting silicone based spray on bud to make it look like it has more crystals & bump the weight up.
The only way forward is to end prohibition...its a disgusting, ignorant, hypocritical policy thats destroyed many lives.

Making tobacco illegal would be very dangerous.
Considering the number of tobacco smokers (U.S. Only) and the addictive nature of tobacco, making tobacco illegal will make organized crime more powerful. Here in the U.S. we may see our streets like it was with alcohol prohibition - open warfare between rival gangs.
Drug policy must consider what works and not what make politicians look pretty.
Management yes - illegal no.

In the UK the criminals have actually moved away from illegal drugs to smuggling cheap tobacco and alcohol...the actual profit is better than illegal drugs and if caught your unlikely to get 10 years and still, the politicans can't see the obvious

The only tobacco I smoke is in my daily spliff. I've gotten hooked on then since moving to NL. As for the story behind why cannabis was made illegal in the U.S. you need to check out
