I have enjoyed another relaxing day in Almere. With nothing on the agenda, I have been content to hang out here at Els' Place, talking with Els and other renters as well as enjoying more of this delicious Amnesia Haze from Chillie Kiki coffeeshop.
Tomorrow afternoon, my Swiss associate and I will be checking into the Greenhouse Effect Hotel. I was quite disappointed to learn that one of the travelers I was supposed to meet on Tuesday has come upon some unfortunate circumstance which has negated his plans to come to Amsterdam. So very disappointing.
I will be meeting with gapie at Voyagers coffeeshop at 4pm tomorrow afternoon, everyone is welcome, of course! The more the merrier.
I'm gonna crash a little early tonight so I will be up early tomorrow to finish packing for Amsterdam...

Arrival in Amsterdam...
My Swiss associate and myself left Almere Haven during the 1 o'clock hour, taking the bus into Almere Centrum to catch the direct train to Amsterdam Centraal, leaving at 14:02. Twenty minutes later we were at our destination and made our way directly to the Greenhouse Effect Hotel on Warmoesstraat. We easily got ourselves checked in and after hauling our bags all the way up the stairs to the top floor to the Red Man Room, we got settled in and started making our way from the hotel to an improvised T-n-T session at Voyagers.
We left a little early for Voyagers and decided to grab something light to have as a snack since we had skipped breakfast. Just around the corner from Voyagers, next to Coffeeshop Central, there was a small bar advertising "Tostis", toasted sandwiches of cheese, you can have ham and tomato added if you want. So we popped in here, each having a "tosti" and I had a small Heineken just for the fun of it.
We made our way over to Voyagers and met jwall outside before going in to meet with gapie, hillbilly, drugs bunny, and others. It was quite a nice little gathering as the shop was very busy with a lot of take-away customers and most tables taken by others enjoying a smoke and various drinks. The gathering at Voyagers started to break up about 90 minutes later with no definite plans for later tonight.
Currently I am at the Greenhouse Effect Bar, sitting back in their new Smokers' Lounge. for those of you familiar with the Greenhouse Effect Bar you will know that the back lounge area is some of the most comfortable and inviting seating on Warmoesstraat. Now that area has a wall of sliding glass doors where smokers can sit and enjoy a smoke while leaving the front of the bar smoke-free. This is a new addition to the bar having been installed a mere 10 days ago. In many ways it's very nice.
My Swiss associate has chosen the Chinese restaurant on Warmoesstraat called Si-Chuan. It's a favorite from earlier visits to Amsterdam so we will be going there tonight. We were disappointed to see Restaurant San Thomas is closed, apparently undergoing some remodeling or gone for good, I do not know.
I picked up a couple of samples of buds next door at the Greenhouse Effect Coffeeshop, using the 2 euro saving coupon I got when I checked in at the Hotel. I need to get back to smoking up this herb...

Today was a warm and sunny spring day in Amsterdam, absolutely beautiful weather for today's events.
I was up eartly and walked over to Utopia and enjoyed a smoke and a drink out front in the morning sunshine,,, I shot some video out front and after relaxing a bit I headed out for Voyagers where I toked up with Drugs Bunny and BigC as well as jwall and Gromit. Everyone seemed to be having a great time as we toked up some of the Sour Power on the menu at Voyagers. Later I met Matty as he was there with BigGuy.
After leaving Voyagers I walked back over to Warmoesstraat where I met my Swiss associate and after awhile we returned to Voyagers for another brief session. We returned to the Greenhouse Effect for a toke and a drink while we made plans for getting to some more user friendly internet access, somewhere I could plug in my USB drive and fire up mIRC. I was trying to check up on my friend from Nijmegen who was scheduled to arrive in Amsterdam today.
Shortly after returning from Free World Coffeeshop, my friend, Alex, from Nijmegen made his arrival in the Greenhouse Effect Bar. I walked with him over to Flying Pig hostel so he could check in. After accomplishing that, I, my Swiss associate and Alex all went for something to eat at KamaSutra restaurant just around the corner from the Greenhouse Effect.
After finishing our meals, we walked over to Cafe 420 and had a smoke and enjoyed the music and atmosphere there until Alex decided he needed to lay down after a long day for him. We walked him over to the Flying Pig so he could lay down and recover, My Swiss associate and myself returned to the Greenhouse Effect and are just relaxing and toking.
Looking forward to tomorrow's events, regardless of how loosely planned I have made them. One thing I do have planned is to smoke some more of the 420 Haze I picked up over at Cafe 420... so...

Yesterday was another beautiful day here in Amsterdam with sunshine and warm temperature, it was a wonderful spring day by anyone's standards.
After having a go at the breakfast buffet here at the Greenhouse Effect Hotel, I met my Dutch friend who was in town from the Nijmegen area and we walked over to Utopia. Along the way we met jwall and made arrangements to meet with him later at Voyagers. After arriving at Utopia, we were warmly greeted by Ingi and I ordered a gram of... something... and we sat and smoked a joint and met with Uncle Ron and Hillbilly before everyone picked up and moved over to Voyagers.
Voyagers was a hopping place with several ACD members gathered there to bid a fond farewell to some departing members: DrugsBunny, Trad and Bigguy all left Amsterdam yesterday after dropping in at Voyagers.
Things at Voyagers started to break up shortly after noon as people were getting ready to enjoy lunch. I walked with Gromit down to the Spui area as he and his misses were heading down to the Dampkring and I was heading down to Leidseplein to find the small park with the life-size, bronze statues of iguanas. I was able to locate the place and shoot some cool video.
On the way back from the iguana park, I walked through the Begijnhof since I was in that area. The church there seems to be undergoing some exterior renovations, but the place was quite nice with several people checking out the hidden courtyard.
Later in the day, my Swiss associate and myself walked over to Grey Area for a buy and fly, where I picked up a gram of Shakzilla on the recommendation of the budtender. I also shot some brief video at the Multatuli statue.
On the way back from Grey Area we stopped and ate supper at Ava Thomas restaurant. Delicious food, good prices and excellent service made this the perfect choice for our evening meal.
Today we check out of the Greenhouse Effect Hotel and check into Voyagers for 2 nights. This will be our first stay at Voyagers and I am looking forward to checking out the accommodations.
I'll be updating more a little later. I just finished my breakfast here at Greenhouse Effect Hotel and soon my Swiss associate and myself will make our way over to Voyagers and set up our base there for the next 2 days. I need to get my morning wake-n-bake started as well... so...

My Swiss associate and I checked into Voyagers Hotel this afternoon. I have shot video of the room so all who are curious can get an idea of the type of accommodations you'll find at Voyagers. I will post more on this topic a little later but I just want to say that the room exceeds my expectations. It has a lot going for it and my Swiss associate and I have been weighing the pros and cons of Voyagers Hotel vs. Greenhouse Effect Hotel. More on this to come also.
