The coffeeshop twilight zone is closing due to the 1012 or is it 1210 clean up (fuck up) program.
with the license number 002 it was in the first 10 shops to open
maybe the 4th.
Also coffeeshop Freeland a few doors down is also closing when there licenses expire!! !!
with there number 005 it is another of the first 10 historic shops!!
i got this info from the bud tenders in the shops who are losing there jobs
bad news all round.

It's the 1012 Project and there are several shops that have to close.

Closures of shops under the 1012 project are to be staggered, with the first round of closures 95% certain to happen at the end of next month. What is definite is that the first 5 to close (as coffeeshops anyhow) will be Freeland, Hunters (larger shop at warmoesstraat 24), Grasshopper, Hill Street Blues (warmoesstraat shop) and coffeeshop 36.

The coffeeshop is the only part that is closing, the restaurant and bar will remain open.

Yeah that makes sense. Close the coffee shops but let the kids watch the pissed up arseholes roll out the bars causing a public disturbance after a afternoon of hard drinking.

Grasshopper has been bought by a Chinese consortium and is to be turned into a hotel (subject to passing of permits for change of use etc). Chinese groups have also within recent weeks taken over both the Old Quarter hotel (together with the Nickel and their other subsidiaries) and the Red Light Bar.
