I posted this previously; police can now write a ticket (if they wish) for possession of small amounts. The city previously had no ordinance relating to cannabis and all cases were handled by city criminal courts under state laws, which are quite strict. Now, it goes to municipal courts, like a traffic ticket.
edit: "small amount" is not defined by the statute. It is up to the police officer to determine what to do, with some departmental guidance forthcoming.
