Hi all, just frantically booking a wknd trip online as i write this and am just really looking for any tips and advice that any of you may wish to impart..

As the username says, i am an amsterdam virgin and am looking to do my homework (more like a cram-session ha) before I arrive.

So please, any hints or pearls..?

PS, i am a light part-time smoker and am just going for a get away.

When you get off the train....... And walk out onto the first busy street...... Turn left......walk along main road until you see Voyagers Coffeeshop...enter... Centerall station can be seen from so if is OUT of sight you've gone to far.......LEFT.... Enjoy because from there all yor plans will go bye bye....this is my plan to BTW for my 2nd/return trip

redeyezman - Sounds like solid advice there sir! From the posts that i read before posting mine Voyagers seemed to crop up a few times so it'll definitely be on the to do list.. Now flying out on sunday instead of today tho.. Oh well!

buy a 24 hour tram pass , dont forget to check in and out near the tramdoor

dont sleep late on your last day , there is a checkout time at the hotel

have a look at the coffeeshop review and travelogue section

dont buy drugs from people at the redlight

try exploring places like de pijp , and the jordaan area . the centrum is very boring imo
