How much did you produce?
Re: spammers - no...GODDAMNED spammers
Maybe its time that Lemming blocks new members from posting links until you have made 10 post, I know its possible.
Are you stoned? Like a gravel road bitch, like a gravel road!
Re: spammers - no...GODDAMNED spammers

Not sure that would help but it's worth a try. How do you do it?Balou wrote:Maybe its time that Lemming blocks new members from posting links until you have made 10 post, I know its possible.
Hey, where's your sense of humour? You don't have to clean up this shit.Cisco wrote:It really is getting ridiculous , time for bye , bye if it keeps up

It's kinda funny that we get targeted by kitchen spam. Presumably they've latched on to the word "coffee".

Hahaha
A couple of potential mods, this one just addresses urls - https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/ ... d_for_urls
And this one is more complex but has a number of associated functions - http://dangerousprototypes.com/docs/Php ... pam_hammer
Or as another alternative, see measure #1 here (possibly the easiest of the 3) - http://www.michel-kraemer.com/5-anti-sp ... for-phpbb3
Edit - here's another one, comes with a decent install guide and looks like maybe the place to start imo - https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=2096637
Several possible methods I could find (what exact version of phpBB is this btw, I presume its a 3x? Much more familiar with vB myself)Lemming wrote:Not sure that would help but it's worth a try. Or it is a direct attack of the forum
They must find it difficult, those who have taken authority as truth, rather than truth as authority
Re: spammers - no...GODDAMNED spammers
Thanks for the info Not_the_monk. I'll check those out. We're on 3.0.11 incidentally.
@elasticband - I don't think it's personal. I think they use a scattergun approach. A lot of spam is completely automated but automated countermeasures stop most of that. The rest is probably some poor buggers in a third world country manically signing up onto forums, blogs and so on promoting their client's scams as widely as possible.

This sounds about right. Almost feel sorry for the poor spammer having to use his/her English skills to make a living like that!Lemming wrote:Thanks for the info Not_the_monk. I'll check those out. We're on 3.0.11 incidentally.

This sounds perfect. Stopping people from posting links on their first day would probably do the trick. Counting days rather than posts is probably safer. I’ll try to get this installed when I have a bit of time on an appropriate connection.Not_the_monk wrote:https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=2096637

I know interfering is something you don't like to do... however there are circumstances which call for small measures...

Done.
If I've got it right, it should not be possible to post a link until you've been a member for 3 days.

Re: f'n spammers f'n spammers f'n spammers f'n spammers
Thats great Lem
. As the bots cant get through easily they're now paying poor sods to do it manualy, paid per link planted I reckon. The last couple I've noticed have started a thread that sounds like it might be worth a look -no kitchens in these ones- and then linked in the second post. Do they get paid per view I wonder

What a long strange trip it is.
