I think it would be a great Idea for legalisation Campaining to use the Idea of selling legal Weed with 50% Taxes on the Win,like in the Netherlands where for example a shop buy for 5 and sell for 10 and then pay 2,50 Tax.
This Money could be used for Drug (real Drugs like Heroin,Meth,Crack and such Stuff) Enlightment in Schools and Drug Therapy and Methadone Programms for Addicts.
I think with this Aproach on legalising it could get more accepttance of People who normaly would never Agree to legalize cannabis, like the Christian Partys.
In Germany the CDU (Christian Democratic Union) rules and the Chancellor Merkel is from this Party too,in actual Polls they get around 44%,the next big Party the SPD (Socialdemocratic Party Germany) has only around 22%,then comes the Left/Socialist Party "Die Linke" (the Left),the green-save the enviroment Party "Die Grünen" (the Greens) and the FDP (free democratic Party) which is a liberal Party but more for the rich People and the Job-Givers.
The Pirate Party also has some Percent.
As far as i know the die Grünen, die Linke, die Piraten are for legalisation
the SPD says it when its Opposition but dont do it when they have Power.
The FPD i dont know, even there liberal i dont think they want it
And the CDU says Hell,NO !
In Theory a coalition of SPD,Linke and Grüne could be enough to gain the Power on next Vote but they dont want to work with the Linke (Linke was formerly known as PDS,and PDS was formalery known as SED which was the communist Party which ruled East Germany.
And on the Polls the CDU would win the Vote Clearly.
So there is no Hope for Weed legalisation in Germany for the next 5 Years at least ;(
Using Weed Tax to Pay Drug Therapy and Enlightment
Re: Using Weed Tax to Pay Drug Therapy and Enlightment
Food for thought I suppose, however I'll use Colorado and Washington as examples of how this might not be feasible.
First and last, the sale of cannabis at every level will be heavily taxed. From grower to distributor add 20%(ish), from distributor to retailer, add another 20%(ish), then the retailer pays their sales tax collected from the customer. Something never to forget are the markups at every level. The grower will charge the cost of growing plus profit plus tax offset, and the same applies to every level.
Taxing the sale of cannabis has become some peoples idea towards a solution to pay down unrelated debt, offset cost of schools, drug education and rehab, but the reality is that by the time the cannabis reaches the customer, nearly 75% of the price (if not more) will be in the form of taxes and fees. Bottom line, any additional taxes and fees will have to take a number.
A couple of years ago several of us in the forum commented that the local/state/federal (eventually) governments would nickle and dime the sale of cannabis through taxes and fees. Well folks, it's happening, and it shouldn't come as a surprise to no one.
Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but this has the smell of corporate lobbyist. Pressure lawmakers to institute initial and supplemental costs of producing/distributing/retailing cannabis to a level where the Mom and Pop market can't realistically compete.
So, keep piling on fees and taxes, and the real money to be made will remain in the black market.
Just my opinion, so please don't flame me or call me names. Thank you.
Have a nice day...
