best coffee in the dam
I love nothing more then a joint and a cup of fresh coffee but every coffeeshop ive been to seems to just give you instant or cheap tasting stuff! Anyone know any coffeeshops that sell quality bud and quality coffee cause im back over in September and am eager to know a spot! Thanks for any suggestions
Re: best coffee in the dam
Utopia comes in mind for that combo, also De Graal is good for both.

I have always enjoyed the coffee at coffee connection, just up the road from homegrown fantasy, on the corner next to a bicycle hire place. They do freshly made pastries too.
edit: sorry just seen you asked for coffeeshops that sell nice coffee.

Siberie - Their coffee is amazing. Can't vouch for their green, though; I always smoke from my stash while enjoying some of their tasty beverages. Regardless, it's worth it just to walk in that neighborhood, on the Browersgracht, see some of the artwork on the walls, receive some of the best customer service in the Dam, and, of course, have a great cup of coffee.

Rookies do quality coffee. Gear is OK, there is usually something worthy on the menu.

1e Hulp without a doubt. They do a very nice coffee and have top quality smoke.
Re: best coffee in the dam
Good coffee and good gear from the same shop is a rarity in my experiences. If I can I get my coffee takeaway and then go wherever I like for a smoke, rather than look for a place that serves quality one or the other.

De Graal

good coffee, that is, fresh roasted coffee that is ground right before brewing, is hard to find. Who are the local small batch coffee roasters in the area?
I'll add the shops mentioned above to my notes and I'll keep my eyes and buds on the alert for the good stuff.

There must have been a door there in the wall when I came in.

Next door to the Katsu makes a great coffee. Feel free to smoke on their terrace too. If they say anything, just say that Bret said "Fuck you and fuck off". And remind them of the city they set up shop in.

The best coffee in Amsterdam is either Screaming Beans (my personal fave, they specialise in lighter roasts, single origin beans) or the Coffie Salon (also very good coffee, but the vibe can be a bit trendy/snobbish for me, and VERY busy at peak times)
Unfortunately neither of these places is smoke friendly, but their coffee is better than anything from a coffeeshop, trust me. These places roast their own beans in small batches, and of course they grind the coffee fresh for every individual cup. Brandmeester is also not bad, but I find their coffee can be over-roasted/bitter tasting.
As for coffeeshop coffee, the best I had was Utopia (amazing latte/cappuchino), followed by YoYo and Anyday for their nice strong espresso.

+1 You can also add Two for Joy to that list as well.bleak wrote:The best coffee in Amsterdam is either Screaming Beans (my personal fave, they specialise in lighter roasts, single origin beans) or the Coffie Salon (also very good coffee, but the vibe can be a bit trendy/snobbish for me, and VERY busy at peak times)
