I wish I would have read your reply before I said my last reply! Really puts my "paint on the street" comment sound shallow and selfish

You sound well informed my brutha!

That was the kinda informative answer I was looking for when I started the thread :D

Much has changed in the couple of weeks since I last wrote in this thread but you needn't have worried Nimrod, it looks like nobody here wants to talk politics.

While I am not a pacifist as Lemming is and believe you can VERY selectively pick and choose your enemies and your battles, then win DECISIVELY, keeping a multitude of third world tyrannical dictators at bay simply by the “threat” of force when needed (and then the actual use of it being in the aforementioned “overwhelming” status category). However that said, I would love to see the “exit strategy” of this potential attack or conflict. Additionally, will someone explain how the attack in any way makes the U.S.A. a stronger country? What exactly the National security interest is here? How about a war strategy? And as Lemming points out, even who the hell the ACTUAL enemy is (though that is a bit more blunt)!! This is one that is interesting to watch play out however, as the main stream media will say, “The nation is divided about equally on this, etc.” then you talk to every person you know from Conservatives, to moderates, to Liberals and you might on a good day find ONE that wants this attack to happen, and you wonder “what tail is wagging what dog”, if you remember the Dustin Hoffman reference! Lastly, while the ‘chemical weapon death’ is certainly an ugly reprehensible blight on the world’s center stage right now, is it any MORE reprehensible than a person beheading someone with a machete in Africa a few years ago or on public T.V. just 2-3 ago? How about a firing squad? Stoning. Women having their babies cut out of them in the streets a few decades ago by Arafat. Death is death; and religion, Nationality, sex, or method of death should not make that much of a difference. The younger the victims, the more disgusting that death is; as they are the innocents, however some of these tyrants “bank” on Western compassion and their view on the “sanctity of life” is non-existent and if, God forbid, you are born a woman in some of these third-world piss pots, it is worse yet! Ever read up on genital mutilation in regards to the women in some of these goat worshiping cultures where they cut out the women’s clitoris so they cannot enjoy sex? How about honour killings? There are some sick puppies out there! In the age old battle between good and evil, evil seems to be winning on many days! Let us hope whatever calmer heads are involved, that they do prevail! There has been enough death in this region (over many decades) to last quite a while.
....................O.K., back to reading USBL and Nimrod’s “Ye Old Liar’s Club Posts”.

Sounds to me that Stateside that there isn't much stomach for war in the Whitehouse, Congress or among the public.

The refugee crisis is an horrendous human catastrophe but it is unclear how any kind of military intervention would resolve the situation. And on recent evidence of Western involvement in the Middle East it would result in an even bigger balls up.

Ironic that to hear warmonger-in-chief John McCain talking about the evils of chemical warfare. What was he dropping out of his jet in Vietnam, strawberry ice cream?

Nimrod wrote: This is an Amsterdam forum about cannabis and coffeeshops. You're only asking for trouble by discussing volatile politics around here.
What trouble would that be, a cyber attack from the Kremlin?

It is possible to smoke weed and have other conversations. Some of us can chew gum and fart at the same time.

matty223 - hit israel? wtf does israel have to do with this? and wtf is wrong with you?

no one here supports going to syria because its not our problem. we stick our noses everywhere but we have so much shit to fix domestically.

here's the thing, if the OTHER ARAB nations won't do anything to help their "brothers" then why should we?

they're letting arabs kill other arabs... its nuts.

yet they human bomb us in the name of their religion but they won't help their fellow muslims?

mind boggling.

its like catholics fighting protestants.... thats the shit thats going on there.

I think, I hope, there has been a realisation on all sides and that includes us proxy powers in the west and the middle east that their war isn't going anywhere. They/we all know there will be no winner, and nothing will return to the way it was, but what we do know is that there is an AQ cancer that is infecting the whole place and they really are the forces of darkness if you only believe a fraction of the propaganda. Could they in an oblique way be the forces that unite the 2 sides. As in "My enemies enemy is my friend" kind of thing :?:

Surprisingly I am quite an optimist where human folly is concerned and I am sure their is a nirvana waiting for us all, if we're just a bit nicer to each otherImageAnd I ramble on a bit............

All in favor of war, either join up and go kill people (men, women, AND children, war does not discriminate), or shut the fuck up... preferably the latter.
Any questions about war, come talk to me, I'll share soul destroying stories (fact, not fiction) of sights, sounds, smells, and tastes.
Want to know the smell/taste of rotting flesh of women and children, and the story of how they came to be this way?
What of the sobs from teenage girls who were raped, mutilated, and left for dead?
Maybe if you're real lucky, just maybe you'll get to observe a Combat Vet break down...
As I said, either join and kill, or shut the fuck up...
...and before any constitution waving american claims freedom of speech - you are welcome by the way, now shut the fuck up!!!!
My thoughts on Syria... it's a civil war, millions of displaced have crossed the border with neighboring countries, specifically Jordan.... sorry...
...people want to talk about chemical weapons (still no absolute proof if used), firing guns and dropping bombs, the policies of those involved, politics, etc...
Want war? Join and fight...
...

Freedom of speech is an inaliable right. Not a privilege granted by men. So we thank you for nothing! STFU!
