I'm really happy that America seems to have realised the "drug war" is a battle that could never be won and are coming round to recreational legalisation. Hopefully we will do the same soon now the pressure from the US will be lessened.
Do you believe if there were no pressure from the US, the UK would have a clear path to recreational legalisation?
Here, it's being driven by the individual states, obviously. How might it work in the UK?

Definitely not a clear path, but a path of lesser resistance
We have a very influential conservative press who jump on anyone who tries to stand up for legalisation

I think decriminalisation in the U.K. will come in time. Perhaps as part of a coordinated European Union relaxation of laws on cannabis. I'm no expert on weed related things but I reckon the thing to watch is attitudes towards med. marijuana (like the U.S.) - change has recently happened in France for example.
Regarding David Cameron, I'm not sure citizens of the U.S. recognise the almost total cynicism ordinary British folk have towards our Political Class ('Leaders'?)
