Marco morally superior again? gasp!

So you'll leave USA because of war, but will stroll through a place you accept as slavery with a small frown? :( It's cool man... I got substance abuse problem too

You're right. I don't know why you left. I can only go off your posts....

the chikita's sign was like ICONIC for that area.

gone.

i would have loved to have it in my apt.... on a wall.... amazing piece.

36 gone cuz they were HUGE hash traffickers and got caught. - no more coffeeshop.

but the windows and overall vibe are totally different..... not sure if its a good thing or bad but i'm not digging all the changes....

cant change what you are... what your soul is.

they're trying to change the soul of the city.... not good.

im all for saving the women who are there against their will.... totally for that.

people go to AMS to party, drink, smoke, do drugs, sex....

make it the best it can be, but dont remove the soul of the city....

Bergstraat? I "walked" the street in Google maps, didn't see much.
I think that was the point.
Ahhhhh, thanks.

Like most things the outside world thinks about NL, it's mostly BS. The RLD was full of thugs, pimps and girls enslaved. I am not suggesting going underground will make the matter better.

Personally, I can't walk through the place without feeling heartbroken.
I think going underground will make it much worse for the girls. Where the thugs and pimps go now?

I got the same sorta feeling after walking around there a lot. Now they will just be outta sight outta mind. Now you don't have to feel sorry for them and they will be worse off? Not a good thing.

They want to make 'Dam as dull as Belgium.
Recently I was in de Kabouter on a Friday night and noticed the de Pijp RLD had grown somewhat since my last visit only a year or 2 ago.

Maybe the idea is move the hookers to a more secure area out of the center?
The RLD in De Pijp has shrunk with a hand full of windows closing earlier this year. And they are not moving them out the center, its going underground.

Moving it all underground is a seriously bad idea. Just going to have the same human trafficking, drug and disease problems as other countries.
I used to look at Holland as one of the most progressive countries in the world but it's getting worse

In the 2-3 year period since I visited the area the number of open windows in de Pijp RLD had at least quadroupled with windows appearing on multiple levels and stretching around the corners and down the street all the way to the next block.

I was taken aback because most of what I've heard is similar to what you say. Funny how things are often very different on the ground compared to what is being said elsewhere.

Go down there on a friday or saturday night if you want to see for yourself. De Kabouter has some nice hash at times (I like the honey Tblisha they sometimes have in there) and the Kabouter haze/skunk is always worth a try for novelty value if no other reason.
The windows on the street heading towards closed earlier this year. And there have always been girls on the 1st floor facing the canal.

could it have anything to do with the global financial crisis? I remember when we use to go to Amsterdam as students in early half of the last decade, the red light district was always jammed packed whit people and hookers. whereas the last couple of times iv been to dam there seems to be less people.
dam aint the only place in nl

Probably more to do with the Internet. More people now have more ways to access paid for sex more discretely than in RLD so probably fewer people coming to Dam for this purpose.

Or, it could be possible more people coming to Amsterdam are using the internet to arrange for their sex, rather than go trolling in the RLD. Who knows for sure?

My first trips to the Dam were a couple of years before the first purge. Hell, back then, the door to La Vie en Rose was closed and I walked past it many times and did not even know it was there.

I'm sure one can find a reliable service via ignatzmice, with a little diligence.
