Amsterdam in Late May/Early June
Amsterdam in Late May/Early June
First i want to say that i found more info about Amsterdam Coffeeshops here than on all other websites combined so keep up the good work.
Me (23 yo Dutch guy from Eindhoven) and my girlfriend (27 yo from Thailand) are planning to visit Amsterdam in late May/early June 2014, it's our first time and we want to stay 3 nights (27-29 May or 5-7 June), not spending more than 80 euro per night on hotel.
A couple hotels that we are looking at:
-The Bulldog Hotel (Oudezijds Voorburgwal 220) - 1 minute walk from Greenhouse Centrum.
-Hotel Aspen (Raadhuisstraat 31) 2 minute walk from Grey Area.
Still thinking about the best and cheapest way to go to Amsterdam from Eindhoven...
-Car? Put 2 bycicles in the trunk and park my car in a neighborhood around the Ringweg 20-30 minutes outside the city and drive to the hotel on our bikes.
-Train? One way is 18 euro per person but i don't know what the rules are about taking normal sized bikes on trains,
Guess we have to rent them there for 8 euro per day per bike (incl. insurance). Not cheap, 48 euro/2 bikes for 3 days.
I can rent a motorcycle for 1 month in Thailand for that price.
We will spend around 100 euro each day on weed and hash.
What is the best but not ridiculous priced Ice-O-Lator in Amsterdam?
I don't know how to roll hash joints, can the budtender do that for me?
My weed joints are far from perfect and get worse as i get higher, just don't hope i will end up buying pre-rolled joints to much out of laziness.
I will only travel outside the Singelgracht once, to visit Vondelpark, Club Media in De Pijp (according to this forum the best Hindu Kush in A'dam) and maybe Katsu,
I won't spend any time West of the Kostverlorenvaart and East of the Amstel.

ignore media's Hindu it will be a leafy disappointment and well katsu it well over rated, go to de graal instead if your going ot the pijp
They must find it difficult, those who have taken authority as truth, rather than truth as authority

€6 per bike one way? Are the bikes in a different cabin or right next to you?spidergawd wrote:Hello Magic, welcome to the ACD. Last year it about €6 for the bike on the train, thats for 24 hrs.

I'd take the bikes on the train, you can buy a ticket for your bike. unless they are expensive and you think they might get stolen in which case I'd hire from Star bikes which is a short walk out of the back of Central station and turn RIGHT. Star Bikes is on your right as the road begins to rise up towards the overpass.Magic040 wrote:First i want to say that i found more info about Amsterdam Coffeeshops here than on all other websites combined so keep up the good work.

Buy a smallish pipe and some screens to smoke your hash pure. Appreciate the taste better that way IMHO. Just my personal preference but longer is better. While you are buying your pipe have a look for pre rolled cones. A few of these will make rolling a lot easier later on.
I'll pass on the ice-o-lator question as I'm still looking for a good, cheap one too.
de Graal is certainly worth a visit if in de Pijp. Nice shop. Last time I had Hindu Kush at Media it was heavenly but alas more recent reports are not too good on the Hindu Kush at Media.
Finally on the hotel I'd recomend priceline bidding or airbnb. Priceline bidding should get you a 4 star hotel in the centrum for well under 80 eu a night.
Airbnb will give you your own space and more freedom/responsibility than staying in a hotel. Going from how much you plan to spend on weed and hash related products everyday I'd say a nice hotel might be your best option.
Enjoy the planning stages of the trip. It is seriously half the fun. When you get there it is all rather frantic and seems to be over before too long.
How much did you produce?

Yeah both bikes are pretty expensive, bought them last year.treetop wrote:I'd take the bikes on the train, you can buy a ticket for your bike. unless they are expensive and you think they might get stolen in which case I'd hire from Star bikes which is a short walk out of the back of Central station and turn RIGHT. Star Bikes? How much per day incl. insurance?
What kind of pipes do you recommend?
The thing about pipes is that i never smoked one by myself, scared that i would do it wrong/waste quality stuff.
How much hash do put in a pipe per smoking session?
Where in Amsterdam can i buy good cones for a nice price? How much would it cost me if i want 50 of them?
Do they have them in different brands, sizes and flavours?
What exactly do you mean with "going by on how much you plan to spend on weed and hash a nice hotel might be the best option"?
Re: Amsterdam in Late May/Early June
What do you guys think of Greenhouse on the Tolstraat in De Pijp? Is it worth the 5 minute bike ride from Club Media?
Miley Cyrus was there for over 7 hours last Sunday, must have some good quality but i heard it's in the top 10 of most expensive shops in Amsterdam.

Amsterdam dreaming.............
Re: Amsterdam in Late May/Early June
Can you guys recommend me some coffeeshops with the cleanest looking interior (Can't enjoy my high when the shop looks like a crackhouse).
I also try to avoid places that have large groups (5+ people) of young locals hanging out together in and around the shops..
Ideal would be a good mix of tourists and locals, nothing hardcore, just a friendly crowd of all ages.

Re: Amsterdam in Late May/Early June
I see some coffeeshops have the same name...
Like Barney's, Greenhouse, Bulldog, Rokerij, Kadinsky, Dampkring and Abraxas do they all have the same menu and prices?
I only want to visit 1 of each, which should i go to?
Does anyone know where i can find a updated coffeeshop map of Amsterdam?
I know about the 2011 map on this site but i think a lot has changed in the last 2 years.

Re: Amsterdam in Late May/Early June
Why? I know these shops are a lil bit more pricey/touristy than your average coffeeshop but i just want to try some award winning strains and they have a lot of them.RvanSteensel wrote:Avoid these coffeeshops .Magic040 wrote:I see some coffeeshops have the same name...

Barney's (Haarlemmerstraat), Dampkring (Original) and Greenhouse (Which one is the original? Centrum?) are on my top 15 Amsterdam shops to visit list, that's for sure.
Re: Amsterdam in Late May/Early June
Saturday morning Octobert 5th we will arrive on Schiphol (coming back from Thailand), have my mother picking us up.
Before making the 2 hour drive down South I want to buy some weed+hash at 2/3 coffeeshops.
Which shops are open at 08:00 + in a area not to busy, where my mom can wait in the car (for a couple minutes)?

Not when most of the info you seek is already posted on the forum. Either look at the directory or use the blue search link above the winking coin.Magic040 wrote:Tought i would get a lot more response...
