halloween in the Netherlands

Post by HighRoller »

It's just occurred to me that my next dutch trip starts octobervisit 31 in haarlem and for all my many visits, I've never been in Holland on Halloween night before.

Is it celebrated in the country? Are there any special events? Just curious. Thanks in advance for any info.

Not really, no. Though you should be able to find some halloween-themed parties.
I always throw one with my best friend :D

We flew home last Halloween night , lots of people in costumes around town going to parties or bars with nights/events on , seem to remember chatting with a young guy in Utopia who was 1 of those guys who leads the bar/pub crawls :? , nice guy  dressed as a skeleton I think .
I remember having a chat with HB last year about Halloween and trick or treating, his explanation of what the dutch view would be was "why are you begging at my door, fuckoff and do it it somewhere else"
Sending out the good vibes to those that need them right now :-)

That's really funny :D Mind you, seeing a bloke dressed as a f***ing skeleton would freak me the f
.*** out if I'd been smoking for a while. Unless it was one of those herringbone ones like in the original Karate Kid. Cobra Kai! Although thinking about it they were a very poor dojo to get their arses kicked by Ralph Macchio. I mean really -I don't care how much unorthodox japanese karate training Daniel san receives ; he was so small and puny it would be like fighting a child.

But I fear I may be straying off topic so I shall leave my ramblings there.

When I was living near beverwijk in a shared house we were surprised by some young Dutch kids at the door, it was a few days before or after Halloween, unfortunately it was the day before payday and nobody had a euro or sweet to their name so the kids left confused by a load of English lads searching for anything we could fob then off with and ultimately left empty handed, so they do celebrate something similar.
