best hotel for location/$$$ ??

Post by onelovemarley »

As the title says..What hotel for the location/price is reccomended from you experienced Amsterdam travelers?

Some friends and I are only going to be staying one night..so I would like a place that is in a good location but not too pricey.

Anyone stay close to Barneys and have a good experience?

hi onelovemarley
welcome to the site. imho u should check out hotel utopia. link is www.hotelutopia.nl
they charge 25euros for a single with tv, and theres a coffeeshop below it that opens at 8.00 in the morning. only disadvantedge is that they have shared bathroom facilities but if u are only there for one day shouldn't matter too much,
as for location its located directly opposite homegrown fantasy on the same streeet so check the acd map. hope this helps

thanks scooberu for the fast reply...I looked at the pics and that would be all we would need...only intend on being in the room to smoke a joint right before we pass out and when we get up..

I see the address..but could you clarify where on the "coffeeshop map" this hotel is located..

Spot 95 (A5) on the Centrum map:

I think I'll create a hotels section on the forum and move all these posts into it when I get a spare mo. What does everyone think?

I think thats a really good idea, the amount of hours I've spent searching for the right hotel at the right price is unbelievable.

I highly recommend "The Greenhouse Effect" Hotel.

www.greenhouse-effect.nl Pictures of every room available

Depending on which room you choose, your location will vary. Attic suite, china town and downtown suite are located in "Nes" street, near the Nes cafe. Ive stayed in the Attic suite, VERY nice cotch, trek up the stairs though (3 floors), great sleeping area in the loft with little side window hatch for smoking out of next to one of the beds (one i had). If the bathroom door handle is still broken, thats my bad, i broke it lol

If you stay in Mary Jane, Sailors Cabin, Lounge Suite, De-luxe suite you will be on the Warmostraat. Mary Jane is RIGHT above the Green.H coffeeshop, so smoke is close at hand. These rooms are the best to get, as they are right in the heart of dam, so short walking distances to everywhere.

When we went, we were all 17. They hotel had no problem with us staying there, we even mentioned are age in the emails to them. We all managed to buy green, apart from one shop which asked for ID, but i still had one (fake  ) which worked.

I know you look down upon "young-uns" using the coffeeshops, but it happens so much anyway. Age limits dont deter UK teenagers...at all. Thats why we have a massive underage drinking/drugs problem. But we used the shops responsibily, no more so than we will now, now that we are all 18. All we wanted to do was smoke green anyway, whats wrong with that? :D
