Always you could walk into 20 Coffeeshops and not get asked, certain shops like voyagers I.D everyone so carry it with you to be safe
Re: Do you carry your passport?
I wasn't asking about ID in shops I meant because of random stops by the police?apparently it's an illegal offence not to carry it!?

happened to me one morning in the RLD around 7am was out strolling taking photos, smoking a J , was stopped by 2 officers and asked for id, when i showed my passport card, they wanted to see my passport book , lucking i had it, they checked it asked me where i was staying, and that smoking in public is against the law
Re: Do you carry your passport?
I don't smoke weed in the street but do walk late after a few beers around town.I never carry my passport it worries me that I would lose it.
What do they do if you don't have it?

Re: Do you carry your passport?
I just use my passport to get into the country and get home. The rest of the time it will be in the hotel/apartment.
I have never been asked but if i was, the photo part of my driving license is sufficient.
Way too much grief if it was to be lost or stolen, grief does not hand in hand with a happy stone

Re: Do you carry your passport?
The fine is €60 and payable immediately if you're not a Dutch Resident/Citizen. And a driver's license won't get you into an embassy/consulate.
Are you stoned? Like a gravel road bitch, like a gravel road!
Re: Do you carry your passport?
So is a drivers license acceptable?
60e is ok, I will take the risk and not carry it and behave myself on the streets.

I think the UK embassy will let you in if you have lost your passport. They did back in 08 when a mate lost his while puggled. It was this incident that kinda made me just not carry it around with me.Balou wrote:The fine is €60 and payable immediately if you're not a Dutch Resident/Citizen. Re: Do you carry your passport?
If issued within the EU, yes its acceptable for the police. A coffeeshop, cafe and some clubs will take a DL as ID.benstraat wrote:So is a drivers license acceptable?
If its lost yes, but not if a political situation where to arise. Been there done that in Thailand during the protests in 2010.Grunt wrote:I think the UK embassy will let you in if you have lost your passport. They did back in 08 when a mate lost his while puggled.
