Really enjoying your travelogue =)

On a side note, quite a few times I have seen people swimming in the river Amstel (just next to the side jettys (?)), thought they were made to be honest.

Day 4: Saturday 14/09/13 Leeuwarden Haarlem Amsterdam

So I arrived at Leeuwarden train station before 9:00 having just smoked a fatty of Kosher Kush that I had brought from Voyagers, well this made functioning and interacting with humanity an almost impossibility; this was easily the strongest weed I smoked over the entire trip, I was not high but very very stoned, I would not buy this strain for the taste but the effect alone was worth the price. I managed somehow to order a ticket to Haarlem then just enjoyed the effect of the spliff all the way to Amsterdam, I was relieved that instead of changing at Almere Centraal like I thought I had to the train ran directly to Amsterdam, sitting playing on the iPad and gazing out the window was about all I could handle, I was effectively in a Kosher comma!!

I got to Amsterdam at about 11:30 and had to change trains to get to Haarlem, as I was not meeting up with Grunt until 13:00 at Birdys I decided I had enough time to go for a quick smoke and a stretch of the legs before going onto Haarlem. Now exiting Centraal station to see Amsterdam stretching away in front of me still gives me the best feeling no matter how many times I have stepped out of those doors, the city of dreams with the endless possibilities that it holds. I headed to Haarlemmeerstraat and the Dampkring 2, they were having some refit work extending the bud counter but they were still able to serve me some Rifman Sunset 1g €8. I also got a cappuccino, is it just me or do the Dampkrings do some of the best coffee of all the coffeshops is town, I have always enjoyed them. I put the hash away for future use and blazed another Kosher, bang, back to Stonedville!! I was not in there long before I had to move my heavy limbs back to Centraal station for the short journey to Haarlem.

Next stop Coffeeshop Birdy, one of the best going, I ordered two bags of jelly hash 0.4g each and one of knetter 1.2g for €25 plus a coffee before heading inside. Grunt was already sat at one of the elevated tables, I pulled myself out of my kosher coma and got chatting about Ajax and the game we were attending that evening, we were only there about an hour as I had to drop my bag off at the hotel before heading back to Amsterdam for the meet at paradox at 15:00. I was staying at the hotel Carillion on the main square in Haarlem, as we walked the heavens opened and the rain pelted our faces, I was soaked by the time we got to the hotel. After I checked in, it was a dash up the four flights of stairs to my room drop the bag off and then head straight back in the direction we had just come from to the station, for yet another train journey!!! I was wet through grrr, I hate the rain.

We were a little worried about getting to Paradox on time, but with the tram from central to the west church and a brisk stroll round the corner we arrived at exactly 15:00, good timing Stan was stood outside waiting for us and we headed into the busy shop. I like most people on this site had my fingers crossed for the finger hash when I entered but no such luck so I opted for the Wash 0.8g €12 and Turkish 0.6g €5. I had not had the wash before it was quite similar to the Turkish in the fact it was rock hard and was a smooth smoke but its a lot stronger and better quality too, not that I'm dissing the Turkish an all time classic at a good price. We sat around the large table in the corner, where an older man was already sat but he had no objections.

Well we started to smoke joint after joint in typical TnT fashion, I had brought the strains from repelsteeltje to share out, my favourite being the Super Silver Haze perfectly grown and cured. We were joined by grunts friend who produced a large bong from his bag, he had only been in town for a day but it was already becoming heavily resinated. We gave him some Jelly hash to put in with his own skunk which should have given the killer hit, but he carried on smoking and also managed to wolf down two of the space cakes, he was in for a good night that night!! I noticed the old boy sat next to us was not being left behind. he was nailing the vaporiser bag after bag after bag, good lad. There was a couple sat on the next table that looked if they had not smoked before, they were sat wide eyed taking in the scene in disbelief. This was another heavy smoke session, I love paradox and the atmosphere in there was good yet again, I always try to pop in on any trip and its well worth the short trip out of centrum. We finished up in Paradox and headed back towards Centraal station and of course another smoke in Voyagers, this time I picked up the ever reliable Super Lemon Haze 1g €12, we were not there for long before we headed in separate directions.

Grunt and I took the metro down to the ArenA for the match Ajax vs PEC Zwolle, who where then unbeaten and top of the league so we were expecting a good match. Once I had collected my ticket there was time for a quick joint before taking our seats, I had rolled up a jelly knetter special as I was after a super buzzy high for the game, unfortunately I had managed to mislay the joint along the way, after checking my pockets at least 150 times I gave up looking, lucky for me Grunt was better prepared so we smoked his joint. The match itself was decent, as per normal the atmosphere at the ArenA was top notch, the trouble for the home fans was that several of the better players had been rested before the mid week champions league encounter with Barcelona and it was not until some changes had been made that Ajax were able to take a grip of the game finishing up 2-1. One of my favourite parts of any trip is singing Bob Marleys Three Little Birds before the start of the second half along with 50,000 other people, only in Amsterdam!! I was able to roll up a joint of the super lemon haze for our journey back to centrum, this was a nice smoke as always, but it must have been the stickiest batch that I have encountered, full of resin!

So back in centrum we opted for the Globe sports bar I had frequented on the first night of my stay, I explained to Grunt that its hardly the ritz but they serve food drink and will let us smoke to our hearts content. We ordered a couple of burger and chips along with some drinks, the food was a reasonable price and you get a decent portion but the chips are so salty, is it a trick to get you drinking more? So we stayed there for an hour or so before heading back to the station.

We said our goodbyes for the night at Haarlem Centraal, though I was not ready for bed just yet what with it being just after midnight. I returned to the hotel to roll a couple of joints one being Jelly and Knetter this time I managed not to lose it, I smoked this whilst walking between the small red light alleyways, there were a few ladies about but it was not overly busy for a Saturday night. The joint gave me a really buzzy high, as high as high can be; I popped into an Irish bar for a beer or two before going out to have another look at the ladies much to my surprise they had all gone to bed, so it's not like Amsterdam when it's all go until the early hours. I finished my night off in my usual way black hash from De Graal, that was it, my lights were nearly out before I reached the top of the hotel stairs. Another successful day in the Netherlands.

Day 5; Sunday 15/09/13 Haarlem, Amsterdam

It was Sunday morning and the late night before and a complete lack of motivation left me unable to get out of bed in time for breakfast, oh well the lie in would do me the world of good. I finally dragged myself into the outside world at 11:00am stepping out the front door and looking up at the impressive cathedral with its bells chiming. The Grotte Markt was heaving with people, as the square had been turned into a large floral picture, I'm not sure how I had managed to sleep in with all this going on just outside the hotel.

The sun was shining so I used the opportunity to clear my head with a stroll around Haarlem, I headed east as I wanted to go to Willie Wortel Indica for the first time, I know the city well enough what with this being my Third visit, I navigated using the alleyways with out referring to a map and arrived no problems. The set up is similar to sativa with the airlock style entrance and the bagged products on display on the right as you enter. I was after some Moroccan Hash as I was running low on the King Hassan I purchased earlier in the trip by now, I went for the Polom Gold 1g €8. The shop itself looked comfier than Sativa (which is not that hard) but unfortunately the window seat with its view of the windmill was taken so I passed up on the chance of rolling a spliff and returned to the centre. I decided that heading up to Birdys was probably the best bet as it is easily the best shop in town, having said that I called in at Join Us to pick up some more hash, I had bought the top end hash Hyi Polom the last time I had been in, so I ordered the same; much to my surprise the bud tender only charged my €9 for 1g rather than the advertised €12, I said nothing about it thanked him and left, you can't complain when you get a 1/4 off the price. In all fairness €9 is probably about the right price, it's an above average piece of hash but there is better out there.

By the time I had walked up to Birdys I was now ready for my first spliff of the day, I revived a warm welcome from the bud lady, this time I took Cheese 1g, Knetter 1.2g and Jelly 0.4g for my €25 along with my standard cappuccino. I walked in to find Grunt sat down smoking, we had not arranged to meet this day but great minds think alike I guess. We sat rolling and passing joints around for a good while, deciding on what we should do with our day, the hash had given me the motivation I required and I was ready to stretch my legs by now.

So as neither of us had been we opted on the short train ride out to Zaandvoort so we could check out Yanks, great idea, we prised ourselves out of Birdys and headed to the station. Once we bought our tickets we waited at the platform for our train, there were two coming into the platform in quick succession so getting on the right one was key, we avoided the wrong train but ours did not turn up, as we were very stoned we presumed we had missed it. We waited another 30 minutes for the next train, again this train did not arrive, well it turned out that all trains were cancelled as there was works on the line and a replacement bus service was in operation. Well waiting on the platform for nearly an hour had killed my buzz some what; plus by the time we would have arrived at Yanks we now would of had to turn straight around and return to Haarlem to meet Grunts friend in Birdys, so mission abandoned, two failed attempts for me now I will make it one day.

If wasting all this time had not put me in a bad enough mood as it was then our visit to Empire Coffee shop certainly did, it's not far from the station and on the way I explained about my previous experience and we should not expect much. Well I was even more disappointed this time, the place just looks shit, the gear looks terrible, the decor is rubbish it is just a big NO, we both declined to buy anything and even staying for a coffee and smoking our own, I am not spending a single euro in this shop!! So by now I really was grumpy and did not want to take it out on someone I had only met a couple of times, I said goodbye to Grunt and returned to the Hotel, however I did say I might meet him and his friend later if I was up to it.

Well it is amazing what a power nap and a show can do to someone, I was ready for the night ahead, like a man on a mission, I was going to enjoy my last night in Holland no matter what. I walked back up to Birdys, spending another €25 on weed, Amnesia 1g, Budda Hash 1.3g and Jelly 0.4g. Grunts friend was already there, in fact he was behind the bar filling up his bong. We sat down in the comfy leather chairs and discussed our respective antics of the night before, it sound as if he really did have fun at De Graal and surrounding area. It was not long until Grunt arrived so the heavy smoking resumed, one of the locals was a bit concerned about the quantity of smoking passing through the bong, especially when we told him that it was the jelly hash, 'that's to strong, sends you loco'; he is probably right if you were to smoke like that every day but we were on holiday and wanting to enjoy ourselves. We finished up at Birdys and headed into Amsterdam, yet another train station platform yeah ;-)

So we arrived at Amsterdam and split up, I did not fancy the TnT at voyagers and opted instead for the Grey Area, there was not a que for once, I asked for a gram of the Grey grains isolator but they had unfortunately run out, so I went for the Grey Crystal €22 1g. This has to be one of the best buys even at that price, the kif is light and you get value for money, put this in with a little skunk and your away. I ended up drifting through a couple of smoke friendly bars, after a few beers and joints I was in a splendid move, so a few more of each. I went for a walk around the RLD looking at the girls on display, I was smoking a Knetter and Jelly spliff when I herd a couple of younger lads saying 'some one is smoking some good hash' after turning round and smiling we got chatting, I let them try a few tokes which went down well. I love that combo, the perfect buzzing high. I am not sure what really happened for the rest of the night as I may have been slightly wasted, but I know that I was having fun. I did mange to get back to Haarlem ok and even score a greasy kebab, the wonders of being drunk anything tastes good.

coming out the station entrance ..... There's a thought.
All those sad faces coming in, with every good reason, what's leaving the Dam anything to be cheerful about ?

Lovely report - great fun to read, I'll definitely take inspiration and get out of central Amsterdam for my next trip.
Grey Crystal €22 1g. This has to be one of the best buys even at that price, the kif is light and you get value for money, put this in with a little skunk and your away
And I definitely agree with that - I had exactly the same thoughts about value for money when I bought a bag - the stuff seemed to last forever and was nice and strong. Deffo our best value buy of the trip.

Good stuff!
