New Eurostar service to Amsterdam from 2016

They've been talking about this for ages. I certainly hope it happens, and that it isn't prohibitively expensive. I'd rather take trains or ferries than fly, but feel a mug when it costs significantly more.

I imagine it'll be much the same price as it is now - about double a non-budget flight from London. It'll also be complicated by the UK's resolute non-Schengen status. The UK alone insists on segregated international platforms which is one of the reasons the Channel Tunnel didn't give us sleepers from, say, Scotland to Berlin as originally promised. Centraal will have to get a whole platform glassed off as like the Gare du Nord. (The sleepers were built, paid for and never used. After years sitting in MoD sidings they were sold to Canada.)
