Trams
Re: Trams
+1, Although I have only ever had my ticket checked once (a return journey from Schipol), I have noticed alot more fare inspectors (or I assume that is what they are) around the metro stations.Balou wrote:FYI, since the weather is getting colder there have been more fare inspectors on the trams/metro.

Re: Trams
Thanks for the heads up mate. Ill let you know what happens if I'm ever confront by an inspector.Balou wrote:FYI, since the weather is getting colder there have been more fare inspectors on the trams/metro.
Suppose not paying for parking and public transport is a bit of a hobby for me now. Japan was the funniest the inspectors usually paid for the tickets for us with there own float money. Madness. I also never pay to park my car in Dam or Uk anymore. I have countless parking fines!! I don't own a TV licence and so far I'm refusing to pay my council tax. Fuck them all!! Makes me mad how all systems are made to fuck joe public over!!
I'm not a penny pincher and I don't class it as theft. It's just that these things we have already paid for IMO. So why paid again! So much scare mongering by governments.
Matty so what if I get a fine. How exactly can they get me to pay? I'd give them my address and tell them to bill me!!
Can they hold me down and mug me or get me arrested?
If so I might part with the 2.30 euro this time!
Re: Trams
kushler i really dont know what they do,, the times i have been on a tram when its been check , everyone was good
Re: Trams
This was about 3 years ago when i was over with my mate Gary, the machine that consumes Paradox cakes like Peanut M&M's. He never bought a ticket from Schiphol to Centraal in all his trips, i always do.
Just after Sloterdijk, i spot the dude in the uniform approach. Gary starts getting ballsy about it saying "What can they do, bill me the fine?". I think we are about to find out and as we were in the first carriage there was nowhere to run or hide. I handed over my ticket first and was told that i was on the wrong train and the wrong class. we had jumped on the Brussels to Amsterdam express (Not the Thalys one, the other slow fecker) and plopped out arses in 1st class. I apologised and blurted out first trip, blah, blah, blah. Gary, as he does not bother with such trivial matters, was starting to fluster. No ticket at all, guard starts to talk into the radio and then sits down across the aisle from us. We get into Centraal and head for the door, 6 big rail security guys and 2 cops are there to meet us. Ticket guard gives me a telling off for using the wrong train and that he could fine me. Gary was taken to the cop shop on Platform 1 and fined 400 Euro's on the spot. Having only about 100 on him, they escorted him to the ATM downstairs to withdraw the balance and then released without arrest. Not able to pay the balance equalled a visit to the Amsterdam "Hilton" for a while.
The trip to the hotel in De Pijp, again i go over to the GVB and buy my 72 hour ticket. Gary, why would i buy a ticket as they never check the trams. You guessed it, the inspector was next to the middle paybooth. I cant remember how much the fine was but again the cops met us at Weteringcircuit and off he went in the back of a Golf. he appeared 2 hours later in one hell of a mood.
The next day on the way to the ArenA to see Ajax - PSV, we took the Metro. Yup, he gets nabbed at Bijlmer. 250 on the spot fine and missed the first half of the game.
When leaving for home, that is when we found out the city was having a major crackdown on fare dodging. Never bothered me as i always get a ticket but Gary on the other hand, well he still does not buy a ticket but he is a bit special in that department.

Re: Trams
i bought a ticket but misplaced it like a stoned fool, the conductor just charged me for a new ticket and told me it could have been a fine.
I have friends that come here and they think it is amazing how they trains are free from the airport to Amsterdam, one day they will learn.

They must find it difficult, those who have taken authority as truth, rather than truth as authority

This sounds like the white whale episode on Seinfeld when Newman finally has to pay his parking fines.The_Kushler wrote:Thanks for the heads up mate.
