Medicinal Effects of Sativas?

Post by JayK »

Just wondering what the medicinal effects are of sativas in comparison with indicas?

I suffer from body ache quite a lot, especially in my shoulders and elbows and have found indicas to be very soothing, but can't figure out what a sativa could be used to treat?

Any ideas? Also, any recommendations for good medicinal weed (for body pains) in Amsterdam?

4077? Never heard of it? Grey Area is a must hit shop so I'll be sure to look into it, and thanks again for the heads up on the sushi.

Hilary Black of the British Columbia Compassion Society:
"Indica and Sativa are the two main varieties of the cannabis plant used as medicine. There are many strains that are crosses of those two varieties. Within each of those varieties and crosses there are a huge number of individual strains, each with a different cannabinoid profile and effect. According to anecdotal evidence, the Indica strains are a relaxant, effective for anxiety, pain, nausea, appetite stimulation, sleep, muscle spasms and tremors, among other symptoms. The Sativa strains are more of a stimulant, effective in appetite stimulation, relieving depression, migraines, pain and nausea. We are now aware of specific strains that are effective for specific conditions and symptoms."

Scientists at GW Pharmaceuticals, Britain's legal med-pot research facility, have announced that Sativa strains are more effective at treating pain than Indica strains.

I think the name comes from an old TV show,MASH.It was about doctors in the Korean War.Thier Hospital was the 4077th.It was very popular in the 70s and early 80s.Still on.

I have seizures and afterwards my body and muscles really hurt. Indicas seem to work the best for that, but sativas seem to help more with the depression that sometimes follows a seizure.
Only problem with that is I don't see many sativas's here.

I just hope the govs finally crack and the FDA starts approving strains for specific ailments. Ah well, it's only fantasy.
