It's all about interpretation of the second ammendment though.....
Nobody will ever change the ammendment because that would open up the questioning of the first ammendment.....
What's needed is better control on teh sale of weapons and a clarification of what exacty "the right to bare arms" means.

yeah, he only used amerikkkan guns that are so common cause of the US policies on guns
the 2nd amendment does not & never has barred laws regulating firearms. that's why the US has the weak ones it has now.
it's not the 2nd amendment that keeps decent gun laws, it's the criminal lobbies like the NRA & spineless politicians
(I guess lemming is going to castigate me now for calling politicians "spineless")

You are wasting you're breath Philly. You make well thought out valid points but those who want to hate simply to hate the US because it is the thing to do will go ahead and be ignorant. You know they will blame incidents abroad on US culture, saying we are corrupting the world. Keep on hating, love it.philly-Rich wrote:Here is a list of some shootings.More than half of these incidents happened outside the US, several even in Europe. All of you America haters out there might find that hard to believe.Mental illness effects people all over the world.

I guess if John Lennon had retired to Tokyo instead of New York, he'd still be alive today.

Your statistics prove my point. In America,by the way, spelling it with 3 ks,so clever, there are about 250 million guns in private hands. In the countries in the above list I'm sure private gun ownership is less than half a million in any one country. So in America we have 500 times the amount of guns and only 4 or 5 times the amount of incidents, on average.Seems to me that America is the safest, compared to those careless nations on that list. For all that great gun control in all those countries and to still have so many problems, maybe there is another cause? The 2 countries you have highlighted are the US and The Netherlands. There are probaly not more than a few thousand guns in The Nehterlands.America easily has 1000,maybe 10,000, times as many guns.Yet America(14.24) has only 20,21 times the amount of deaths as The Netherlands(.70).How do you explain that?My explanation is that the number of guns has very little to do with it, as the statistics clearly show.mover2100 wrote:Mental illness happens everywhere

I agree that you should have to be a citizen not someone who grow up here and did not like it enough or feel American enough to become an American.
I also think that the United States needs to quit taking in all of the rejects from around the world.
Also in other countries where Guns are harder to get legally they will get them illegally or just use something else to do the killing.
I would also think that also most of the guns used to commit murders are not legally gotten.
After seeing what it is like in the boarder states I would also say that alot of the guns do not originate from the US.
In any case I would think that in the US that if you make guns illegal then only the criminals will have them.
I do not think that the for fathers original intentions are still valid that went into the toilet when the Military got automatic weapons and other things,
because there is no way that we could take our country back if we do not agree with our government . I will bet that George fills good about that.
But since it is Americans Killing Americans..........you should be happy since you hate us so much.

Washington, DC at half-a-million is much smaller than Detroit (which has an equivalent murder rate), yet Detroit is excluded. The worst 20 cities for murder rate listed were:

Well, I can see one of the Cylonsphilly-Rich wrote:Your statistics prove my point. In America,by the way, spelling it with 3 ks,so clever, there are about 250 million guns in private hands. In the countries in the above list I'm sure private gun ownership is less than half a million in any one country. But of course other factors affect death rate by guns than simply ownership. It's not just that there are a lot more guns in amerikkka than in other nations. But the prevalence of guns appears to be the greatest cause and the easiest thing we could do about it.
IF amerikkka really cared about the life of its own citizens, of course. But that's a mighty big IF.
& of course, facts aside, the absurdity of saying that the highest death rate in the world is good because it ain’t even higher is lost on a true gun ideologue.
Not that I really expect the facts to affect an ideologue in any case, but the general rule of thumb long held from a study in the New England Journal of Medicine concluded that gun possession increased the risk of homicide victimization by a factor of 2.8. That means in a household w/ a gun, it is 2.8 times more likely for one of the family members to die from a gun shot than a household w/o a gun. But I'm sure y'all feel real safe.
a more recent study of US states & regions found:
- In region- and state-level analyses, a robust association between rates of household firearm ownership and homicide was found. Regionally, the association exists for victims aged 5 to 14 years and those 35 years and older. At the state level, the association exists for every age group over age 5, even after controlling for poverty, urbanization, unemployment, alcohol consumption, and nonlethal violent crime.

Hi gun ownership states had 21,148 gun related deaths
Low gun ownership states had 7,266 gun related deaths
Hi gun ownership rates have almost 3 times the number of deaths than low gun ownership states do

The conclusion is simple: more guns means massively more deaths. Period.
If amerikkka really cared about life it could easily protect its citizens beside these things. Any automatic or semi-automatic weapon should be banned immediately; any magazine clips of multiple bullets should be outlawed. Handguns, if not completely banned, should be strictly controlled & regulated. None of these would affect anyone who really wants to hunt.
But a psycho couldn't walk into a store & buy a glock 9 mm on Monday and show up on campus in a bullet proof vest on Tuesday.
But amerikkka doesn't like life. it leaves its youth available for slaughter. So, we will be having this discussion again when the next tragedy occurs on a school yard or at a McDonald's.
Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so.
