Matty223 and I attended the first one in 2012...
...was ok, however some of the "notables" were a bit ego tripping, think along the lines of the "non-leaders" of Wall Street drum circles.
Then there was the 1st Annual (and last) Cannalympics in Haarlem, which from all accounts, was a success. So why change up?

2013 saw a little more activity, however still the same ego tripping.
...and the replacement for the Cannalympics was lymp, err... limp. Charging a cover, being searched (some having weed confiscated)... as I said, limp.

Let's see what 2014 brings... now that the movement has a stage, should be some real ego tripping, which thankfully I won't be seeing or hearing.
What about a post event, like the ones in the past? Was last years too much of an embarrassment?

A lesson that's been passed down for centuries, modified for the subject...
...when something isn't broken, don't be a bunch of ego tripping greedy canna/fuck-tard stoners - leave it the fuck alone.
Shame, because they won't... egos and $$$$ are driving the movement now, which comes as no surprise to some of us, really shouldn't to anyone.

Get back to the basics, but why? Because it works, not to mention it's KISS.

I was at the smoke out demo at the town hall (Waterlooplein) in 2013. There were inspirational, pro cannabis speeches which lasted about 5 minutes then we all lit up at 4:20pm then cheered then everyone went off. A stroll in the afternoon sun to show my support for cannabis legalisation. It was fun. Stopped into Bluebird on the way back into town. Nice bit of hash. Lovely.

A separate event. Under a similar name was held a little way outside the town center that evening. Tickets cost in the region of 30 euro each. There was a search at the door where security attempted to confiscate any weed they could. I also attended this event. For a short time. This event was less fun. The whole thing was a bit of a chore really. The venue was total shit. The drinks were too expensive. It was a rush for cash.

Seems like there will be something different again this 420. Keeping an open mind for now. Right now my plan is to be joining the demo/festivities at some point. Depending on the weather. One thing is for certain. I'm not paying an entrance fee so I can be searched for weed at a weed related event on the way in.

I hope this year's event is more about chilling out, smoking, enjoying the day and each other, and not lame detractors.
As for the separate but still connected post-420 smoke out, the organizers should perhaps re-group and go with what has worked.
Something in the grape vine I had heard is that there were some coffee shop owners in Haarlem that weren't supportive of the 1st Cannalympics. Don't include them the next time... perhaps if this even is revisited, shop owners in Amsterdam and perhaps other towns might want to join in? Spread the joy as far and wide as possible...
