Anyone been to Antwerp Belgium on a train from Amsty lately?
Just trying to get a read on some of the prices you paid in Euro's. I get confused easily (especially when stoned

I used the Thalys highspeed train. Prices vary, more so if you have flexibly on days to travel. 22€ was the best price I saw, look for "offers & specials" on their site.
Added Note: I was not able to purchase tickets online while I was in the US, and once in Amsterdam, I could not use my credit card at the train station as it did not have a "chip" in it, had to pay cash.

There must have been a door there in the wall when I came in.

The high speed trains use the airline system. So what someone else has paid is irrelevant. If you buy your tickets on the Thalys site 90 days in advance you get the cheapest fare. And you can use Google to convert the currency.
Are you stoned? Like a gravel road bitch, like a gravel road!

Not really looking for high speed, just the cheapest. Thanks for the info though.

He will be unlikely to buy a ticket online while in the USA.Balou wrote:The high speed trains use the airline system. So what someone else has paid is irrelevant. If you buy your tickets on the Thalys site 90 days in advance you get the cheapest fare. And you can use Google to convert the currency.

Re: Anyone been to Antwerp Belgium on a train from Amsty lat
I came down from Amsterdam to Brussels on the Thalys about two weeks ago. Snoozing away peacefully when suddenly woken up by a dog licking my face and a gendarmette saying "don't worry just let the dog do its job, are you carrying any drugs?". I was carrying about 8 grams in my bag and coat! My wife and I shook our heads, the dog sniffed around, licked my face again, and they walked on. It was like a dream, I didn't have the time to get scared or break into a sweat. It's a good thing the dog was more like Scooby-doo than Rin-Tin-Tin.
I make the trip quite regularly and have never seen this before. It was early on a Saturday evening. When I opened my bag where there were 3-4 grams in a side pocket, I realized that by chance I had also stowed in the same pocket a handful of those after-dinner mints in a white wrapper they always give you when you the pay the bill in restaurants in Amsterdam. There were about ten of them in there with the weed and they completely killed the smell. I never eat those things but they served me well!
Maybe the dog was in training, or maybe it was sniffing for something else.
I suppose there is a lesson to be learned. It was a really close shave.

You can easily buy a Thalys ticket from the US. I don't know why you would say it's unlikely.thompaw wrote:He will be unlikely to buy a ticket online while in the USA.Balou wrote:The high speed trains use the airline system. That was my experience. I tried 3 separate times using 2 different credit cards. Did you manage to buy a ticket from them while in the US?Pala wrote:You can easily buy a Thalys ticket from the US. Try the D-Bahn site. https://www.bahn.com/i/view/USA/en/index.shtml
They do pan-european tickets. Good for the cheapest fares.

Yes. I've bought thalys tickets, as well as German, Belgian, and French tickets via their websites dozens of times. All print at home tickets. Just because you had trouble doesn't make it unlikely.thompaw wrote: That was my experience. I tried 3 separate times using 2 different credit cards. I am only addressing Thalys. I stand corrected, Thank you. Allow me to re-write:Pala wrote:Yes. If your experience is anything like mine, the website will not put through sale originating in the US.
My statement, is not only based on my "trouble" with the website but also, includes the information I got from my two banks, "No sir, no declines have occurred", my host in Netherlands suggesting as much and at the ticket counter, the agent who couldn't address my issue about buying online but pointed out that I could not use my credit card at the station as it did not have a chip embedded into it. So that's my experience of buying a ticket from Thalys.
I hope you can understand now how I came to write such a sentence.
Oh, yeah, "Verified by Visa" was also in on the act.

No 30-35 US seems inexpensive.
