It's not the most luxurious but i fancy my stays at NH Barbizon. Great location bang opp the centraal station, quirky comfortable rooms and an open smoking policy.

If you really fancy treating yourself, look no further than The Dylan. http://dylanamsterdam.com/
It's a few quid more than what you are budgeting, but worth every cent.
How special is your birthday?
The Dylan is a very special treat.
Happy upcoming special birthday...
Psst, every birthday is special... ;)

How about that stoner apartment in the Grachtengordel, the one where the owner has bongs and welcome bud? Don't the name or details, but it's been talked about here on ACD.

Holy cow, I don't know how special your birthdays are, but mine certainly aren't special enough for the Dylan.

Just checked the rates for our weekend in March - these are per night, €495, €750,€975, €1175.

 wtf:D I usually got my whole 4-5 day trip down to less than 500 euro(planes, hotels, other weed expenses) But if you can afford it, and want to go there, why not? Last time I got a sweet deal from Lancaster New Hampshire Hotel on Plantage Middelaan, 4 nights, double 162 euro total. 3 stars, had expected pretty much what i got, clean and pretty spacious room, nice helpful service and it's 10 min by foot from Nieuwmarkt.
Edibles on a plane is my middle fucking name

Maybe I misunderstood the use of "special" in this instance, perhaps?
Limiting spending to normal levels diminishes the use of "special", doesn't it? Well, it just does.... to me.
Ex... When I dine out, the average cost is roughly 35 Euros. When dining out on "special" occasions, that cost usually triples, easily.
Ex... When I stay in Amsterdam, I pay approximately 70 Euros per night. On the odd "special" occasion that I find myself in Mokum, that cost will also easily triple.
The same analogies can be applied to most events that to me are noteworthy of being labeled "special".
If I treat something that I consider "special" in the same manner in which I treat everything else, is it really "special"? Nope, it just isn't... to me.
Special doesn't have to mean that one needs to splurge, however what will make it different from the norm, in this instance, the date?
Bottom line, do what makes you feel special... :)
Happy Special Scooby Treats for all...

Piss off... ....................................................................................................................;) ;) ;) :)
Had I known beforehand your average expenditure, I would have suggested The Bulldog Hotel...
You could have a "special" birthday at home with a 3 Quid tube of lube, if ya know what I mean...  .....I'm stoned, what's the point again? Oh right, celebrating a "special" birthday.... go cheap with accommodations, say 20 Euro per night at a Hostel... take the money you save and buy a slap/tickle/reach around... ;)
Happy "special" occasion...

I'd probably also go for a nice, smoke friendly apartment, but if i was going to spoil myself, and didn't give a shit about smoking, i'd go for the Suite at the Room Mate Aitana...

Since i saw it, i wanted to blaze in that bathtub! :D
