Manston airport potential closure..

Post by Bob2 »

http://www.thanetgazette.co.uk/Manston- ... story.html

it will close having used them 3-5 times since it re-opened. if your planning using manston go soon klm dont plan on using after april 8th(odds on it will close sooner). which is such a shame its the best airport i ever will use, but if know one uses it will close and when i was there for dam trips plane was quarter full at best each time(considering that kent is rammed packed with stoners) . hopefully no ACD are affected by this and ruins any plans of 420 for me

Yeah, who saw that coming!

I remember flying out to Amsterdam from there in December 2004 to visit my family for Sinterklass, £1 each way + tax = £28 total (I was a student at UKC at the time).

There were 3 of us on the flight out. Strangely the return was quite full. Was not surprised when EUJet went bankrupt a few months later.

It's an OK airport but its in the arse end of nowhere, you had to get a train to Ramsgate and then a rickety old shuttle bus or a taxi to get to it, Infratil obviously realised it was never going to work when they sold it off, I have to agree with them.

Looks like a potential buyer may have been found. Having said that it still doesn't look good for the KLM service. The current owner Ann Gloag and her brother Shagger Souter own the Stagecoach company which has royally fucked up train services across the country and given us crappy local bus services and the downmarket Megabus concept. If it ain't lining their pockets then they will run crying for a subsidy or bail out altogether.

for some reason this airport name makes envisage mass murderers being transported globally.
Hope the new owners get a name change to something decent like mike hunt memorial or something like that.
How much did you produce?
