Drum n bass in Amsterdam?

Post by ecfowle »

I'm a drum n bass DJ in Oz and I'm heading to Amsterdam soon. With dutch dnb acts like Noisia, BSE, June Miller, DJ Hidden all hailing from your neck of the woods, are there any clubs in Amsterdam I can go to to hear drum n bass while I'm there?

The Winston Kingdom has a jungle/DnB night every Sunday (Sneaky Sunday) and Monday (Cheeky Monday), never been so can't tell you what it is like, but it is mainly small local/resident DJ's (or sometimes an old Jungle DJ who was big in the day).

The main BIG DnB night promoter is Major League Drum and Bass (https://www.facebook.com/MajorLeagueDNB?fref=ts) who put on monthly (just about I think) nights, usually at Melkweg. Next night is a RAM showcase on June 6th. I saw Andy C for the 4th (maybe 5th) time last November and it was probably his worst show I have seen (usually a big fan). I dunno if it is because I listen more to the more tech side of DnB showcased by Critical (Enei, Mefjus, Emperor, Ivy Lab), but I just thought he was playing too much liquid/jump up, more like what I would expect from a Hospital Records night, not what I am hoping to hear through Dillinja's mighty Valve Soundsystem !

Cheers man, I'll be there on a Sunday so I'll check it out. Nice avatar - I heard a set of Andy C's from Feb the other day and it sucked - chick vocal jump up. I'd be keen to see June Miller tho. I live in a small town and I'm trying to get some love for dece beats - I put podcasts and sets for dl on soundcloud if you wanna check it out soundcloud.com/lordflybeats - there'll be a new set up later this week.

Cheers for the tip dude =]]

I´m not too well in to that genre. But isnt the music that Hill Street Booze usually plays Drum n Bass?
Place is awesome. Used to be a coffeeshop but serves now as a bar where you can smoke and drink. Cheap pitchers of beer (10eu) and weed :)
Check out their FB page for upcoming live dj sets.

Nice one. Can't really tell from their page whether it's dnb or not but it looks like a cool place - on the list. Cheers mate.
