Best for drinking and smoking at the same time

Hi guys and girls,

I'm off with a couple of friends to the Dam in a couple of weekends time and I was looking for a little help on places where we can smoke and drink at the same time. Last time I was there, say... 2008/9 ish they had already banned alcohol in the CS but there was at least one place that had a two-shop arrangement where we ended up drinking and playing poker with some local guys while toking away happily.

I gather t'Nes is a good place, and it's certainly on the list, anywhere else that you could recommend would be great. For some reason we are staying in Prinsengracht, so if there's anything good close to there that would be great.

I was reading around and someone on another site was saying that bringing back used glassware would get you in trouble. I'm guessing he's an american (UK here), but does anyone know about problems with this in the UK?

Nes is closed right now and I'm pretty sure it's turned non-smoking now anyways.

Sound Garden is a nice bar with a terrace on a canal that allows toking. It's right by 1e Hulp too. There's Batavia which is right next to Voyagers and has a downstairs smoking room on canal level. And Kashmir Lounge is great as well (with its coffeeshop counterpart opposite) albeit a little further out. Really enjoy the music/general vibe in there but maybe not ideal if it's lovely and sunny outside..

The Tribes, Hot Or Not and Hill Street Blues are bars on Warmoesstraat that allow smoking. You also have Saloon Smoking Bull at Lange Niezel 13. All four are within a minute of each other. Sometimes you have strippers/semi naked bar girls in the Smoking Bull plus the window seats at Hill Street and Hot Or Not are great for people watching. 5.50 euro is the most you should pay for a pint in these places, 3 euro a pint in Hill Street between 7 and 9pm.

I heard a whisper that it is okay to smoke in the courtyard at Mulligans near Rembrantplein,music most nights, they have a smoking room inside which is usually for the tobacco side of things but this room can also be used for the people playing music there.It is not really an Irish theme bar but I would describe it as an Irish bar that's happens to be in Amsterdam,a lot of good musicos, artists and like minded people visit on a regular basis, a hot tip of mine, http://www.mulligans.nl/

Batavia is a great spot and it's right by Voyagers!

Bringing glass through the arports is OK but try not to bring dirty glass as it does piss off the customs, you can always buy some bong cleaner from the headshop and clean up your pipe before you travel/or on the way! I took my rig to Barca and Amsterdam and that thing was filthy!

I'm looking for a smoker-friendly bar with good beers, I'm tired of generic beer. I've seen Batavia website and it has good beers. Soundgarden seems a good place

Is Ricks still open?, as that is next to Susies if it is and did do happy hours on the beers to. But unure if you could smoke inside in Ricks bar or if it had to be outside on there seating?.

I haven't been to Rick's for at least 2 years but when I was last in there they had a smoking room towards the back.

Should be as I'm sure I was ok to smoke pure inside 1 night 2 years ago. Think there fishtank room is only for tobacco mixed joints?. But why smoke inside anyway if the weather is being generious and a nice cold beer and outdoor seat and canal view is calling . Will be doing just that myself in 11 days.
