Because taking a bike on the train is a bit of a pain I usually have used the centraal station bike parking area. Often I'll stay outside Amsterdam so I get to explore new areas, see new things etc.
Finding a spot to park a bike around the station was a bleedin nightmare. Suppose this will help some but the answer is to have more places for bikes. Hope they don't want people to have to start paying though.

I alway get scared leaving my rental near or around the train station cause them city workers that chainsaw bike in 1/2 :| was at Barney's this year and across the straat where my bike was parked they came along and started chai sawing bike the shop got empty fast ppl freaking of getting their bike chainsawed ? I was one of them ppl) I notice they put sticker first to warn owners
What happens if your rental get that treatment ? Does one have to go to the police to get a report of rape of a bike? What do you say to the bike shop ? I'm guessing you have pay for the bike?
I think it's cool they let ppl on train with bike but one thing every bike should have to buy a ticket no exception like them folding bike that get away with no tickets !!!

One of the most civilized attitudes on the planet is found in Nederlands and the use of bicycles. To encourage the use of bicycles, everything should be free for bicycles.

Otherwise, just look at what happens when you go the route of other european countries that measure their country's wealth based upon the number of NEW CARS SOLD EVERY MONTH.

Circulating in automobiles is the most irresponsible attitude of politicians (corrupted by the automobile/petrol/insurance corruptors). They spend nothing on public transportation, privatize the road and mass transit systems and let their public road system rot away.

Respect the Nederlands and the bicycles and encourage their wise choice of pedaling and not polluting and constructing train systems to accomodate the bicycles.
