Great read so far. Had a similar experience with service at Voyagers in the past, they can be really sarcastic at times (particulary when you ask about their opening times) but I guess its just their humour. Last time I was there the shop was always closed when I walked by, but when I finally saw them open one afternoon I jumped in. When I asked the BT what the opening times were I was basically told that they were "professional stoners" and open when they feel like it; fair enough but not very handy for a tourist who is only in town for a few days!

Thanks mate for the positive feedback. Never got to try the SBLH so hopefully it makes a come backKeyMonCha wrote:Good start... I figure this report is going to be epic, since part one only covers the first couple hours of your trip... Let's just hope the detail continues... I love a good "train-of-thought" review.
Wouldn't worry too much about the comments at Voyagers... I tend to respond similarly when asked questions... I guess it's a northern thing... It's a form of t'humour up 'ere.
As for the "delivery", it's totally normal in Amsterdam... 500g limit in shops... A nearby stock-room, and a delivery when supplies get low... Delivery guy has to look nondescript, at least until the drop-off... Works well in my experience... Never felt nervous or intimidated, i just understood that it's how business is done here.
Good to hear the Lemon Bubble is still in stock and blowing off socks... If only it'll stay around 'til December... Or SBLH returns... Either is fine by me.
Thanks again, djsplatmat... Looking forward to part 2!

Re: SATIVA HEAD
Part 2 starts with my gf walking and in my case stumbling towards the hostel to drop the bags off and start the day’s session for real. Love the feeling of not having a care in the world with the only worry of where is the next spliff is coming from and of course not getting run over by a cyclist @. So the next stop before the hostel is grinder shopping, I always go to a place near Dampkring it sells the plastic grinders without the magnet in the middle, so much smoother then the ones with a magnet. They also sell blue rizzla king skins, all at a reasonable price. Then we take the short walk down leidseplein to the flying pig uptown, stopping for our first febo’s Lovely
. It was my fourth time with the pig, love the place; great atmosphere, always clean and a pretty good breakfast. We where staying in a 6 bed room with king size beds so you can share with someone, perfect for me as I normally crash for about 4 hours so I don’t really need the Ritz.
We check in and climb the vertical stairs to the third floor to drop the bags and get back out. Card goes in and the door unlocks, time is about 11ish and the room is still full of people; a couple are still in bed. IN BED AT 11 that is so shocking FFS, they are in one of the most interesting city in Europe and what do they want to do? SLEEP. Another point to make is that it is hotter then the sun in this room so I don’t really how they are sleeping whatever time of the day it is. The other two are funnier, one of them is lying in bed looking smashed and the other is looking for his passport in a worried/stoned/slow way classic
. We have to wait for him to find it as his under bed storage compartment is out so we cant get in our. So we wait and he does not even realize we are waiting, he must have had some strong shit hahahaha. So I ask if he could move for a second, I quickly close his, open ours drop the bags lock it and open his back up and he is grateful. You know what they say: every little helps.
The other two selling points for the flying pig uptown for me is the location as I love Vondelpark and it is also very close to De Pijp. The other is their smoking area, air conditioned room that is open all the time for smoking and drinking. Happy hour on Whiskey is all-day everyday, 4.50e for two STEAL!
. After a day of buying weed, you can go back chill, smoke and drink till the early hours love it! Always meet characters in there, but we will talk about them later in the story. Before we set off again its time to try the BSSD, WOW where the lemon failed this impressed, it was sick! Smell transferred into taste and gave that old school diesel high, a mixed between head and body high lovely. Even the wife commented on the taste
.
So next stop was 1e Hulp, smiling all the way, it’s a short walk from the hostel. I cant help to laugh to myself that we have only been here a few hours and have smoked and done more then the two lazy heads still in bed, oh well their lose
. We walk in (welcomed in with a lovely smile and a hello) I ask how she is and she is good. I ask to look at the Tangie, been looking forward to this after seeing a picture on Instagram a few weeks ago and WoW it does not disappoint, sweet and sour smell constructed in well formed medium to big buds, so I bite her hand off for a gram. Before I can ask about the ice, she start to chat to me about the other sativa’s, asks me about the Somari. I had this on my last trip and explain to her that is was a very nice hybrid and much better then the one from Dampking. She goes onto another tub and explains that she has just got this one in this morning, opens the tub and the smell interests me, for the life of me I can’t remember what it was called but it looked like a solid well cured sativa. In hindsight I should have snapped her hand off for these one also, but as you are aware it is like being a kid in a sweet shop and this was only our second stop so I resist.
This is where I got thinking (again) what great customer service. She was not trying to sell me the 15e stuff, just weed that she thinks I would like in relation to the Sour Tangie and what was good that day! All this done with a smile puts other places I have visited to shame. I then ask about the ice, I wanted the lemon and as soon as I smelt it I did not really have to look at anything else. 24e for a gram another Steal in my eyes. Smells like Jif/Cif (whatever it is in your country) and gets the job done but we will talk about that later. We grab a couple of drinks and pay and say thank you and are replied with “no thank you”
We move upstairs; the u shaped table is taken so we sit to the left as you walk up the steps. Tangie comes straight out and into the grinder, wow the smell multiplies when grinded and a lot of scuff is left on the other side of the grinder. Rizla the cat is asleep next to the vending machine, I know it has been said before but fuck that cat must get so stoned
. I light and take the biggest drag I can and PING that is why I come to Amsterdam, strong orange/taste on inhale and then making my mouth dry and sticky on the exhale. Don’t know if you have seen the Haribo Tangfastics advert but that is what my face must of looked like. It beat the LB for taste and High, small smile and the feeling of being in a mischievous mood. If you love this type of sativa you have to try it 10/10.
One small issue is the music in here; it will go from some chilled reggae to some dark weird bassy tune. Which is pretty funny when high as it changed the complete dynamics of the room. One of the dark tunes came on and it started to build up in a really strange way and then I clocked the other two siting close to us, one looking at the other thinking, what is that sound? As the song (if you can call it that) developed louder and faster, one of them started to look really worried and on edge
. As soon as the track broke into this rank forceful bassy set of noises they jumped up and left. I turn round and my GF had clocked it too and I start to full body laugh. I love a bit of social commentary while being wasted
I would say this place is a must for most trips, top weed, top hash and all provided with a smile.

Re: Sativa Head
We walk out of Hulp and wander over to Sound Garden to have a drink and a smoke by the canal. After reading items on the web; I was looking forward to having a whiskey with a joint in the sun next to the water but
. We try the front door: closed, we try the back: closed. This was just after midday, so it must have been that day or they just open later; as there was people milling about inside. Anyway the drink can wait, next stop paradox. A short walk thought Jordan and we arrive outside this local looking shop. I did not really know what to expect, not many photos online and it sits outside the forums buzz of utopia and voyagers. It has a café feel with locals reading papers and playing chess. Up to the bar and there is only one thing on my mine Pound Cake. AT 6.50e another bargain, each piece boasts a 1g of weed. This is a fly and buy, next time I will stop for a taste of a few weeds as they do .5g prices on all their weeds
. Looking at the cake; it is not big, no thrills, basic sponge and no flavoring. Which is what I look for when I want a space cake. If I wanted a double triple chocolate cup cake I would go to a bakery
. On the side it carries a warning; strong cake if you have not experienced weed try a quarter, wait for the effects for up to a hour. If fine, try another quarter. I can see why they put a warning on them as they can creep up on you. It does take ages to digest and THC when cooked turns into a different type of THC, I think? Anyhow I am no scientist
so I will move on.
Over the road towards grey area in a small square is a water fountain. So I open up the pound and take the first bite and it is very very very dry, it does not help having dry mouth from smoking weed all morning but that’s what the water fountain is for
. Furthermore, another surreal monument in Amsterdam. Chinese tourists filling water bottles up, teenagers drinking next to Mister red eye trying to unstick the roof of his mouth to finish the pound cake. As I swig; I can feel the small individual bits of bud separate from the cake as I gulp it down after every bite. Dry but Strong just how I like my women
. So now the waiting game begins and off to the next spot Utopia. I normally hit Gay Area when in town as it does have nice weed and used to be my fav shop but, this time i cant be bothered to wait out the 10 man deep queue to grab a fly and buy. Furthermore, they have put shitty rizzlas over the cool stickers.
I have never been in Utopia before, last time it was closed due to the school opening times but it is school holidays so all gravy
. We walk past homegrown with is now a seed shop, It is a shame as this was the first place I got ice in 2007 and of course the trippy toilets
. Utopia is quiet; 3 people sat at the window and one at the bar. The entire side seats are free, these have always looked inviting on some of the vids I have watched, WOW is all I can say, as you sit they sink and grab you, very comfortable
. Mexican Champagne Haze is the saliva of choice; at 14.50e one of the most expensive grams of the trip but worth every penny in my eyes. Comes in one bud, full of scuff, grinds well and another sweet smell. My nose has had so many aromas up it by now; it must have had a pretty strong smell. I am not really a hazy type of guy but as a lot of the sativa in dam are hazes, you have to jump on the bandwagon, what do they say? When in Rome
. The taste cuts thought everything else; fragrant with that haze after taste. After a few tokes you can tell this is high-grade weed as it slowly creeps up on you. It is a different high to other sativas like your tangie and bubble. Less giggle and more (cant really describe it) Deep/spiritual would come the closest. Every sensory input is discussed and analyzed in my brain in till the next more interesting thought pops up
. The one that pops back to me now is looking over to the window seat, about 20 mins had past and one of the girls had not moved at all, looking pretty wasted and white just gawking into space. She was either having the best time ever of the worst time ever anyhow, does not really matter as she wont remember it in the morning
. Another surreal moment in the dam but not that surreal as it blatantly happens all the time every time
.
I really like the feel of this place, its not trying to be anything it's not, good weed and comfortable seating. I can see why it is a favorite on the forum and I will be back on future trips. Well in till it closes because of the new laws put into place. The bar lady was chatting about the opening hours and how much of a bitch it is. It is a shame that it will close some great coffeeshops, it is reality but it must get really annoying for the staff and customers, the topic being brought up every 5 minutes. It is going to happen so it is a case of powering on and enjoying the time that they have now before it is gone, but I know this is easier said then done. Anyhow, wanting some fresh air we get up and leave, next stop Anyday.
I have never made it inside this place, last time because of timings, this time because it looked pretty busy and I had champagne haze on my list, which I just go from Utopia. I will make it in there some day or should I say Anyday. We fly on by and make our way back to the hostel. The sun is out while walking by the canal and BANG it hits me. I remember looking down at the pavement and having double vision. The hexogen concrete slabs were shacking in a kind of hazy, burly way. Everything became super bright and I just laugh my head off. Pound cake mixed with haze and fresh air = a fucking good time. The rest of the afternoon was spent in a hazy trippy mess. Next time: Ice time

Re: Sativa Head
After this trip we made our way back to the hostel. This did take is a little while however, was very enjoyable, everything seems to be in high definition and every person walking past looks more interesting than the one before. I really wanted to get back and try some of that hash, ice at €24 a gram it is pretty expensive stuff, reading comments on the forum suggest that this is just scuff that is lightly pressed and sold as isolator in 1Ep. Even though, they have had mixed reviews I went for the lemon isolator. So as soon as we got to the bar I grabbed a drink and then went straight into the smoking area. Then the next few hours become a bit hazy this was down to the fatty roles. I bet everyone knows well most people ha ha. Sometimes when you roll a joint you just know as soon as it has been roled it is going to be perfect and smoke deliciously. I want to use the rest of the Tangie then finish it with a sprinkle of ice.
After tapping it down I took one toke that lasted for about six seconds and I knew this was going to be a perfect joint. Now as I’ve said before my girlfriend has been doing very well on this trip and I did not really think how strong the spliff was going to be. It is not always the strength of the weed but how you roll it. After couple of tokes I can remember passing it to my girlfriend and watching her take the first couple of drags, I saw the colour slowly fade from her skin from bright pink to dull white
. I knew that I had to act fast as the room was full of people and I wanted this moment to be as less stressful as it could be. I grabbed an arm and quickly moved her out of the area, this then meant we were outside reception, I slowly checked if she could walk on her own however she then gracefully hit the floor. I managed to sit her down on the nearby stairs and grab a bottle of water. During this process I was trying to be sensible and not laugh at my girlfriend situation. After a couple minutes she came round and had a laugh about it. I carried/helped her up the million stairs to our room. This is where she slept the afternoon’s session off. I proceeded to go back to the smoking area and finish the eventful tasty spliff on my own.
Jokes aside, this does show you that Amsterdam does have a dark side and can be a horrible place if you get yourself into hairy positions and don’t have proper support. For example, if you have never smoked weed and you go to Amsterdam and you buy a hash cake after eating this you feel nothing, so you have another one and then BANG it hits you this can be quite scary place. Walking down the red light district and this main area you do see a lot of tourists in uncomfortable states. This is why education and knowledge are important when drugs are involved. In Amsterdam this information is given however, there still could be more initiatives to make sure that this information is given to as many people as possible. Sites like this forum produced to this and help people make the right choices and in some cases may have helped people say safe. If people do have bad trips I feel they should be shared on this site to help people overcome these problems and have a better time in Amsterdam. Anyhow, back to the fun stuff, if anyone does one have a chat a about the educational side PM me. After a few hours my girlfriend wakes from the dead and we continue into the evening drinking whiskey and smoking spliffs. After an eventful day, we decide to go to bed and be ready for another full day in Amsterdam.

Lovely reporting. I just wish I could get my sorry ass to do a report. Been to the dam 9 times and still no report. I'm looking forward to the rest of your travelogue with interest. I got a trip planned at the start of august for 2 weeks, then staying with friends in Portugal for a bit, so hopefully will do a report and get to perspectives out of it.
Next trip 1st August 2015. 2 weeks camping/putting my feet up.

Fun read.
I can relate to your last post. Had my first whitey in Amsterdam during my last trip - added to a rash & a cut up heel. It sure wasn't fun but you laugh afterwards!! A bit of food and some water and it passes. Also, DEEP BREATHING!! Helps me
Keep it coming sir!
