Recommend Hotels like the globe?

Post by James_53 »

Hi I'm going in October for my 5th trip in 4 years, useually I stay at hotel the globe which is great as it's perfect location and has a smoking room downstairs, now unfortunately they only do minimum 3 nights and me and my friend are staying 2 nights over the weekend, now I've never stayed in any other hotel in Amsterdam and was wondering if there is anything similar ,I'm sure there is but I want a good recommendation from people who have stayed there.

Looked at voyagers and there fully booked for the weekend I'm looking at :(

Any help is appreciated

Not the biggest fan of the bulldog coffee shops although I have heard that everyone needs to stay in the bulldog hotel atleast once, so I'll look into it, cheers.

Erm price about £100 for the 2 nights, smoking in the room not really fussed about but would be nice, but has to have smoking facility's like a room downstairs or something and location would be the city centre as I like to be within walking distance to my favourite spots

EDIT: just booked the bulldog private twin room for 2 nights, can't wait 31st-2nd November

Steep price IMO, I stayed on a boat last November in a twin room ensuite with breakfast (crappy), deck to smoke on, over by nemo, 5 mins to voyagers for 22.50 a night, got voyagers this time so never booked for nov, prob just me who thinks its steep but suppose if your after the bulldog experience you have to pay for it, have a blast.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the Bulldog... Stayed there on my first 3-4 visits to the Dam back 15 years or so... Rooms are clean, with a little character... But the lounge is why i used to love the place... Everyone is (usually) very friendly, and you'll always meet like-minded people whilst in there... We used to take over the TV and get baked on the sofa... Breakfast is standard "continental", but you can pretty much help yourself to as much as you want... Including Coffee!

I wish i'd known your budget was £100pp and not £100 total, because personally i'd have looked for an apartment...

This one wouldn't have cost you much more!

You will enjoy the Dog though, and as someone else said, you have to do it once...

Have fun!

The op would have saved 100, days weed for me, there are a fair few of these boat hotels over by nemo so I would try and find them all to get the best price you can, seems a bit high in comparison to what I paid last November, so worth a search around them to get a good price, always check voyagers first though
