The ultimate coffee shop
one that has a turnstile on the door and it costs 2e to enter. The buying area is out front. When you go in you get a token for a hot drink from a limted menu and waitress service. Tipping is allowed.
Your token is then placed in an 'alarm timer' for say 40mins before it is time to buy another drink or leave.
pass outs available according to management discretion. 'VIP' tables where you pay to stay. I think Prix D'ami have those already.
entertainment booths. once again Prix D'ami have those. I'd have expected more table service places like Greenhouse ut still does not seem to be the trend.

Re: The ultimate coffee shop
I'd like a coffeeshop that was really light and airy inside. Lets in natural light and has high ceilings

Yo yo is ace!
Although apparently they are still doing a refurb so you can't sit in.
When it's up and running, it's exactly as described above. I don't know why mike has a problem with it. Unless you prefer the vibe of a lot of coffee shops: no windows, dark decor and blaring shite euros trance?

Re: The ultimate coffee shop
The intent of a cover charge, generally speaking, is to keep the rif-raf out. So you might want to charge more than 2euro. Back in the good ole days i'd pay a $20 cover to get into a Chicago night club, but by the end of the night the uppity girls are looking for a boy toy, so it all evens out.... and kinda proves RvanSteensel point.
I'm sure we'll see something of the sorts one day in the US.

Shells sink. Dreams float.
Re: The ultimate coffee shop
The problem with a cover charge to exclude the riffraff is that the people who want to exclude the riffraff are precisely the riffraff one would like to exclude.
Yo-Yo's a lovely shop, natural light, roomy, adequate mid-range smokeables. The only quarrel I have with it is that it looks like the sort of place to do freshly squeezed juice, but doesn't. I can live with that.
