I'm off to amsterdam on Friday, I've been 5 times before but it's always during the week and I always have the early flight so arrive at 9am, but this time I'm going for the weekend and I don't land till 5.30pm. Are the coffeeshops really busy on the weekends so it's hard to get a seat?
Sounds like a rookie question haha

They are more busier than week days but on weekends its a matter of luck and chance. Popular coffeeshops will be busier on weekends and less poplular and unfamilar located ones might have available seats just await for your to park up, bill up and blast off.

I tend to go solo so I quite enjoy having fewer people to wrestle with for a seat. Not to mention sitting in a packed coffeeshop on your own is a bit daunting. There's not always friendly people to talk to...
When I do go with a group it doesn't bother me so much so its all down to personal preference. Actually busy weekends are better for group trips. A quiet shop can be dull or peaceful depending on you.
If you stick to warmostraat shops then chances are seats will be few and far between. Head a little further out and you'll probably find a nice quiet shop to burn a few.

I went solo from Wednesday-Sunday once, never again. The difference between Weds/Thurs to Fri/Sat was like chalk and cheese. So much busier and full of 'Lads, Lads, Lads' on stag do's, etc. Just a much heavier vibe.
I always go Monday-Thursday now.
