Was looking at menus of various coffee shops, some are advertising Jack Herer as a sativa and others are advertising it as a indica!
What is that all about?
Jack Herer Sativa or Indica?

Cannabis strains are at least as complex as i.e. types of wine. You cannot easily put it in categories like red/white, there's dozens of subcategories like Pinot Noir/Sauvignon Blanc/...krait17 wrote:Was looking at menus of various coffee shops, some are advertising Jack Herer as a sativa and others are advertising it as a indica!

- First of all, there are several "Jack Herers" out there, which are not necessarily the exact same genetics/strains. (i.e. Sensi's cross between Haze/NL5/Shiva Skunk, GH's cross between Haze/Red Skunk). Quite similar, but different in the end.
- Then again, each breeder's strain shows several phenos with different parental genetics coming through. Some leaning more towards the Sativa or Indica side, sometimes showing totally different effects/smell/growth patterns/etc that don't even come close to each other.
Often breeders simply rename a phenotype and sell it as a totally different strain.
- It's sometimes hard to determine effects into a Indica/Sativa category. There's no clear line, due to billions of cannabinoid/terpene compositions. Some Indicas will still give you a strong head high, some Sativas will put you to sleep. Those broad categories are more guidelines instead of science yet. Hopefully it will become clearer in the future, with more and more research from the medical/legal cannabis industries.
- Some coffeeshops simply have no idea about genetics at all.
- Some growers have no idea what they are really growing or sell anything with a generic label to it.
As long as there are no quality controls (due to strange laws like in Holland that create a huge black market) , you can never be sure what you're really sold.
- Others try to put the strains into a simplified menu's category (which is quite limited) according to the basic effects i.e. "more body" or "more heady". This way the customer has at least a VERY broad idea of what he might be buying.
- To make it more complex, a lot of effects differ from person to person which makes it nearly impossible to clearly differentiate some strains.

Re: Jack Herer Sativa or Indica?
I,ve grown this strain a couple times over the years. I,ve been growing for 30 years . As you may realize I was smoking this strain over twenty years its changed a lot over the years. Tweed karmer has a strain and if it don,t taste like cat shit to you, your taste buds are not working. And when I say grow ,not a little plant in your garden or under one dinky light 400,600 whatever, thats a hobbyists not a grower.RvanSteensel wrote:the hell you talking bout lolmacky wrote:Save your money, tastes like cat piss and thats if its grown right

Re: Jack Herer Sativa or Indica?
the reason why a primarily sativa strain ends up being advertised as indica dom is that a common coffee shop cut of the strain is a quick finishing indica dom phenotype.
that is what I heard anyhow.
FWIW
