Strain hunting in the Dam

Post by floofenburger »

I apologize in advance if my post is long. I'm heading to the dam for my second time on Saturday and am going to spend a week there. Last time I wasn't prepared and couldn't find what I wanted. I'm hoping you can help me out. If you're very helpful, i'd be happy to meet up with you during my visit and get you very high in gratitude. I surely won't finish it all myself as my partner doesn't smoke (though i'm trying to get him to try it) and I don't smoke where i'm currently living (for the moment), so my tolerance is quite low ATM. I'd be happy to pack a volcano with whoever can help me out.

Sativas:
  • Dr. Grinspoon - I've heard I can get this at Barneys, but the reviews from people on this forum have been mixed. One poster said it hadn't been cured properly, which is a shame. I just called Katsu, and they say they have it now. Anybody sampled it? This strain, among other heirlooms and landraces, is one I really, really, want to try. Found at Katsu thanks to Smith2
The best SSH - I know this is all over the Dam. Who do you guys think has the best? found at Boerejongens thanks to desecratetheday and Smith2
Casey Jones Found at 1e Hulp thanks to OneHighMofo
Liberty Haze - I know 1e has this based on a somewhat recent coffeeshop menu, but If there is a better quality around, let me know. Found at Barneys thanks to macky
    Lamb's Bread (Jamaican landrace)
    Panama Red (South American landrace)
    Durban Poison (African landrace)
    Malawi Gold (African landrace)
    Maui Waui (basically Hawaiian landrace)
Tangie - Like SSH, I hear this is all over. Who's got the best? Found at Voyagers thanks to OneHighMofo

Indicas:
  • Hindu Kush (landrace) found at club media thanks to Papi_3city

    Hybrids:
    • Tangerine Dream
Found this myself on Barneys Coffeeshop Menu

Also, anything else, you guys can recommend that I should try? I'm looking for mostly three kinds of strains:
    • A functional daytime strain - A Sativa that's clear headed without amnesiac effects, excessive paranoia, etc. I do not like diesels, even hybrids. They make me paranoid while other Sativas do not. Must be the specific terpenes or something. I prefer piney sativas.
A night time / body high strain - something that's good for sex, relaxation, and just chilling the fuck out after a day of walking around and seeing touristy shit. Possibly could go with a hybrid if it's not too heady too late at night.
Landraces. I want to smoke the world! They may not all be available and may not be under the same name, however. If you guys have any recomendations of Jamaican / Hawaiian / Afghani / African, etc. Please do let me know
Thanks for bearing with me!

Whoo. That's way out there, but I think I'll hit it when I revisit Vondelpark. Thanks!

Boerejongens' shop on Utrechtsestraat has the same prices as the more distant one.

I've praised Katsu's Grinspoon so often that they should be be sponsoring me. Payment in weed, please.

You will not find DJ Shorts blueberry,He won't have anything to do with Amsterdam.Way back he worked with one of the seed banks and they stole his strain. The blueberry is bastard sized so much there, it not close to his original strain.I don,t even think they know what Flo is. The best Liberty haze I had was from Barney,s, Hope you have good time.

Thanks, I didn't realize there were two. Saved on my google maps (as with like half the coffeeshops in Amsterdam).

Nice list :)
I was there a few weeks back. 1e Hulp has decent Casey Jones
Voyagers has Tangie - not sure who's is the best

Didn't see any of the landrace strains you're looking for unfortunately

Have fun!

Thanks! Any recommendations for a good sleepytime indica if I can't find Hindu Kush?

Sorry mate it's not really my thing - Fromage Blue from Voyagers was probably the closest thing I tried to something that made me sleepy.
Don't think I bought anything on the last trip that was 'pure bred' indica. Pretty sure I saw some on various menu's though so doubt you'll struggle to find one...
Our trip report starts here on page 19 of the 'whats good right now' thread if you're interested.

I tried a few good indica strains on the last days of my visit last week.

Would recommend:

L.A Kush (Hunters) - Surprise smoke of the trip. Long lasting stone and could have slept all the Monday afternoon given a chance!

O.G Reek'n (Green Place) - Knocked me on my ass pretty much! Felt good though

Enemy Of The State and Cheese Dawg (De Dampkring) - Both are worth buying along with a chocolate shake. :)

Thanks! That's not far from the Katsu at all. I'll definitely hit that. Last time it was one of my favorite strains, and I don't usually like Indicas.

Normally not for me either, but I almost always have trouble sleeping in hotel beds. A nice Indica before bedtime does wonders for your sleep quality, I find. Also great for sex. Love that body high once in a while.
