That is the funniest thing I've heard in ages! I fucking love that town, too! Great report, OneHighMofo. More details, and maybe some pictures?

After breakfast I trip past Dampkring in Haarlemstraat and grab a g of their Mexican Sativa. It looks like it smells. Red n hairy.

I head for Siberie and buy another gram of their Rainbow. The BT tells me it's a local strain. I grab the bench by the door - ignore the stoned doofus staring back at me in the unfortunately placed mirror and proceed to elevenses.

1g Mexican Sativa. €14 Dampkring.
Light in the throat even though the texture is dry, herby, with a savoury sour finish. It's Cali-o without the oranges. Red diesel without the diesel. There's an undertone of pond life too. Skunk #1 hiding away in there somewhere.

It's a lovely day - I sit by Brouwersgracht canals in the sunshine for an hour or two letting my buzz settle in and riding it through. All of a sudden - there's no rush :) I form a plan to cross the city and head to De Overkant. It's a long walk so I stop and roll a crafty one at a cafe with a coke.

Tangielope - €15 from Dampkring.
I bought this on a promise from the BT that I'd appreciate it. He was right. There's a creaminess behind the chock and the citrus tang is the loudest in this one of any I've tried.
I wish I had a word to describe the difference in sweetness between this and the Mexican.. It fails me.

Overkant hortus is small and basic. As is the menu. I choose a gram of Neville haze and sit down.
I let the Tangielope settle in and have a green tea watching the world go by.

Wrapping the Neville - it's an interesting dry pull. It must be heirloom strain day. All the familiarity of every haze I've ever smoked. Will this demonstrate the revolution it started? I save a bit for the mighty and spark up.

I can see why they wanted to mix it :) that's not a criticism. The sugar Vs spice is there without any darker notes to evoke ... Er I think I'm waffling and trying to say: I miss lemons. And strawberry and mango and melon. It's nice. But I can't imagine I'd want to buy it again. It's certainly flushed and cured well.
7.5 - dependable

I sit and consider my final move.
Platinum GSC? Not open till 6... Tight. The Ceres Hilton? Definite contender.

I still have the bag of rainbow I bought in Siberie in my pocket. I look it up online. There's all sorts in it. NYCD, blueberry, some Spanish strains. It smells great. A kind of Casey jones x shoreline cross. That can't be a bad thing. I wrap it and head off.

Bluebird is on the way back - I get a seat at the balcony order a green tea.

The Rainbow is lovely. An improvement on the blueberry x lavender from Boerejongens. More complex. Simultaneously having a lovely freshness and a velvety kush finish. Lovely.
Great flush again - lovely white ash no accrid taste and super smooth.
8.1 - luberly.

Right then. I've mixed a tiny bit of Neville with a tiny big of Casey D from yesterday left and that's it. A traditional airport cocktail doob. Which means of course… I've run out of weed again godamn it.

Ah! Then I remember a loaded mighty in my pocket. A good .2 of mexi-sativa.

Wow. The taste cuts right through. This is the heirloom strain id buy.
It wakes me up and I nearly get the giggles thinking about my upset stomach (sweets 'n' soda at 4:30am probably) because I sneeze and simultaneously feel like I'll soil myself without some serious resolve.

Now I'm trying not to giggle and not to shit myself. I manage. But what an end it would have been.

There a dude smoking a pre-roll in the corner next to me that does not move - I mean a muscle. For an hour at least.

I buy a bag of lime, remembering it being one of my brothers picks of last trip. Think I'll make that the last one and vape it.

When I get back the guy in the corner is back with us and is back on the doob :)
When I finally get away - I don't have any time to go to another coffee shop. So I elect to find a quiet spot with canal view and vape the rest my herbs in the mighty. I've got a half gram of lime and a bag of Neville's x Casey Jones. I name her hazey jones (creative) and she makes a great blend in the mighty bowl.

Lime - €12 from Bluebird
Exactly as I remember it. It promises G13 on the intake but matures immediately to a fresher less cloying hit. There's a suggestion of diesel but it's overpowered with distinct lime citrus. Also missing are the velvet palette of the hash plant. This is an altogether different lady than her bag appeal would lead you to believe. Vaped only.
7.9

Hazey jones.
Hands down best strain of the trip. Breeder done an excellent job those haze bros are amateurs. Nuff said.
It was pretty good to be fair - darker than your average 'fruity haze cross' with an 'LA con' style round fruit punch :)

Home now - long day today.
What a great trip though - met some lovely folks, had some great laughs tried a lot of great strains.
Generally felt like the quality was improved since my last trip - exchanged a few knowing glances with the BT's when faced with kids muttering about 'popcorn buds though innit' when buying a gram. Pro tip kids - if it's those big buds you're lusting after- put your hand in your pocket. It's like they've never seen what happens at the bottom of a big bag of weed before.

Anyway - one final review.
And a nice piccie.

Durrah - €can't remember. Dampkring
Beautiful sticky goodness - impossible to handle, melts beautifully on the nail. Tastes like heaven - not unlike the Amnesia plants I was told it was made with. Not sure how it ended up on my desk though!!!! :)
8.3. One of my favourite purchases of the trip.

Thanks very much indeed to those that read along and commented - I had great fun writing it and your feedback is very welcome indeed.
Sorry I didn't make it to Central to try the Amnesia - for what's it's worth, I can highly recommend the Soma variation at 1e Hulp. Best I've had in years.

Bought it on the forums recommendation mate, and the Mango Haze, and the Platinum GSC - all three the stand out buys of the trip (I'd add Ceres Hilton to that list as my own find).

So thank you all - again :)

Top read Sir!! Had to login just to comment!

Glad you enjoyed the rather lovely Mango Haze... She's a keeper

I'm back in Amsterdam in June & wasn't feeling much excitement as it's my 4th trip in a year but your report has got the juices flowing!!

Fingers crossed the Citral & Platinum GSC are still on Utopia's menu then 8)

I'll be staying in an apartment this time (it has its own bong etc). Are there any sativas you would recommend as a 5g purchase? I'm an indica guy mainly so need a one off buy as a wake n bake for the week...

I think if I were choosing something for a wake and bake I'd go for the Citral from Utopia, perhaps the lime from bluebird, both refreshing. The other alternative for me would be he Bubblegum Kush or Rainbow from Siberie simple because they're flushed so well they'll make a lovely morning smoke. *edit* The Mexican Sativa or Tangielope from Dampkring would also be excellent choices :)

I've never been a great believer in the Sativa = uplifting / indica = couch lock. I just don't experience it that way - I find it all uplifting and have never really experienced this couch lock people describe so I'm perhaps not the best person to ask.
Have fun! Have a great time :)
