cycling out of Amsterdam, advice appreciated.
I'm off again in June and plan to go further afield with the bikes. Although iv been going to Amsterdam for over 15 years, iv only used bikes for the last three years and have only gone as far as the Pijp. So this trip me and my brother fancied going a bit further, maybe to Haarleem, but other suggestions would be appreciated? Where is the best place to start the route to harleem from the centre? Basically any advice would be appreciated.
I be chillin on the beach in the South of Venice

It's really simple. Haarlemerstraat->Haarlemerweg, and you're on your way to Haarlem.
Follow Amsterdamweg in Haarlem and you'll get to Dam:)

+1
once in Haarlem If you keep going you have an other 9km you hit Zandvoort and the beach :mrgreen : other 30 minute ride whit a some hits!
You can't also the ferry across the IJ and hit the nor side of Amsterdam...pretty cool things to see on other side
Ferry is free and behind the train station.. if you keep going north you hit this big park full of canal and big ass lake called Ilperveld or something ...from ferry its about 30-40 minutes!!
if you take Overtoom from centrum and keep gonig youll see the olympic village on Amstelveensweg (overtoom turns into Amstelsveenweg) if you keep going you'll hit the biggest park in Amsterdam Area Called Amsterdamse Bos ...Pretty nice park in like 10 times the size of central park
take about 45 minute to get there!

I don't know if you have a smart phone but there is an app that you might find useful. It is called Fietsplanner and is basically a fietspad route planner / sat nav for the whole of the Netherlands.

Not wanting to rattle Adamster's cage, but I just checked. Amsterdamse Bos is 10 sq km and Central Park is 3.4 sq km. So it's only about three times the size.

De Bos is great
Zanndam is cool to ride thru
going in the other direction the Muiderslot is a fun destination
Haarlem and the beach are also perfect to ride to.
just getting lost in the country side is very entertaining.
whatever you do will be an adventure!
