A quick tour ...

Lurked for too long. In dire need of a break - (understanding wife) - I booked an apartment on the Prinsengracht for 3 nights and a flight from Luton. This was from Wednesday this week to Saturday. Flights less than a £100 - and apartment 450 E ...

So there we are - determined not to be in a state when one has to plan getting up from a seat in a coffeeshop. Evening smoking only - bar the odd "wake and bake" - culture , travel by train around Holland and chill.

Easy , easy flight at 9 am from Luton - some time to kill - so ate and enjoyed the Nieurkett - dropped itto the new "Old Church" for bargain 10E worth of hash (Kings Haze) - cup entry - lovely staff and so helpful. Walked past the old "Stix" and scored 1g of Nevills Haze for about 14E ...the latter an impressive buy only place. Slick and bustling.

So the apartment - built 1740 - 2 floors for me alone - first floor lounge with comfy chairs , canal view , bookcase etc - down stairs kitchen - 2 bedrooms , garden , 2 bathrooms / showers. Smoking allowed - kitchen drawer had skins , grinder and a germanic logo metal pipe.

Owner OK with weed smoking - she was 75 years + old ! .

SO the days passed - got stoned every evening - bought also from Siberie - 1g of Diamond Kush (very strong and trippy - 12E), 1 g of Super Pollem Hash - (very nice gentle smoke - soft and pliable) - and 1g of Grey Haze from Grey Area.(very nice - but not too potent)

All great stuff - never have I slept so well (sans dreams) - loved the weather and the "Dutchness" of the Hague , Haarlem . Alalkmeer and Schevingham. A society at ease with itself from a relaxed tourist point of view. Ate well - cooked in the (stoned) evenings.

Nicely done. Planning something similar this July/August - a "no smoking indoors" flat for me, but it has a terrace which solves that problem. Doing a few European side trips to break up the smoking time (also have an understanding wife, but there are limits, to be fair to her....), but after a few distractions ill have a few days all in a row in one of my favourite cities.

I appreciate your updates on the smoke and locations. Some nice details, and also given me some ideas for some day trips outta Amsterdam, which I've been bloody lazy about in the past.

It was about 450E - but to me a good investment - proper quality accommodation on one of the best canals. A couple of highlights....

(a) Paying a simple no smoking visit to Paradox and having 2 coffees for a mere 1.90 each and seeing Ludo again (who says trade is good) - but the menu has shrunk a bit
(b) Needing a drink - small beer - nipped into Barneys Farm - saw ashtrays and no one else smoking so lit up a cigarette and was roundly and politely told to put it out "weed only !)
(c) Finishing my stash off on Amsterdam CS by mixing Pollem with a Mars bar on the platform - and dreamily going through security with a smile - they must have clocked that !

Just nice to indulge once a year - my tolerance is such that on the 1st night , I was wrecked in the apt - second night with the Haze and Hash - reached superb levels of bliss ! ....

Het Ballonntje looks a must do for the next time.....
