I've bought one twice. It's valid for most museums in the Netherlands for a year, and even at around €50, it's good value, given that individual museums charge silly prices.

I'm very, very pissed off that when I looked to see what they're charging this year – just shy of €60, if you care – they're cracking down, because people pass them on. So you've got to have a photo included – fair enough. But even so, it's only good for a year if you're a good Dutch citizen and buy it online. Foreigners' cards are only valid for a month.

I'm beginning to think the wietpas was less about puritanism than it was about xenophobia.
