LLMReb's March 2016 Strain Revue
Posted: Sat 2nd Apr 2016 03:06 am
I just returned from my trip to AMS. It was another great visit that was yet again all too short. For your reading pleasure, below I review not only strains, but also space cakes. Each strain was .5g unless otherwise noted. The Budtenders were super nice selling .5g each time I asked, and I asked each time I purchased other than Voyagers.
Strains
Voyagers - Chocolope. 10E for .6g (I think). I went to Voyagers specifically for Silver Bubble and LA Confidential. LA Confidential was not on the menu. The Budtender said they just sold it all. Oh, but here is Chocolope, which I know as a highly rated as a Sativa on this board. Gotta get some of that at the very least! High expectations, and expectations met! I saved a bit of this stuff for each day. This actually got a bit better for me after it dried out a little. Great conversation. Highly recommend!
Voyagers - Silver Bubble. 10 E for .6g (I think). I had really high expectations. In fact, they were too high. This strain is all too close to what is considered very good stuff out of Texas. I didn't come all the way to AMS to smoke something nearly identical to what I get in Texas. Produced a good high, though . . . just like in Texas.
Paradox - Moby Dick. I just happened to rent an apt. 1 block over from Paradox. They really need to finish repairs on that street. Oh well, I need some weed to handle the mud. Moby Dick is right there on the menu! Leafly rates it very highly, and I read about it here, too. Great expectations. Great results. It had a very nice taste, and it was a great sativa high. Good for walking around and chatting.
Paradox - Ace. I thought I should get some indica for later. This stuff was fairly good, but just good. Well, initially. Within a few days, it dried out a bit. When it dried out, like 3 days later, it was some of the best indica I've had in a long while! Great stuff after a few days. Highly recommend. Paradox always does me very well, and it did not disappoint on its two selections.
Rusland - Super Lemon Haze. First of all, the BT said he did not smoke. ??? If you don't smoke, how can you sell the product? He was a nice enough guy, and friendly. He just did not smoke. Hell. Good thing I did my homework. Time for some Super Lemon Haze!! Keep in mind that I've been hitting the Chocolope and Moby Dick, so I've been fairly well set on sativa. But this Super Lemon Haze is what caused me to set aside the Chocolope, which is what permitted it to dry a bit and get better. How can you not like a weed that is so good that it indirectly causes your other weed to get better!??! This stuff was beautiful, great density, super smell and taste, and great high!! It was the only weed that made me giggly.
1er Hulp - G13-Amnesia. Just when I thought that Super Lemon Haze was the best ever, enter G13-Amnesia. This stuff is flat out good. Great sativa high. I cannot say enough good things about it. Plus you can get it at what seems like a bargain at 1er Hulp! Smoke, ride bike around town, and enjoy!
1er Hulp - White Widow. My sister has a fondness for WW because we smoked a lot of it at night on a visit years ago. She requested I get some for nostalgia purposes. It was everything I expected in WW. Good indica to chill out and watch Storage Wars on TV late at night. Not as strong as the newer strains, but sometimes you don't need the strongest stuff in order to enjoy a great buzz.
Barneys - Girl Scout Cookies. The first thing I thought to myself as I entered Barney's Lounge was the décor. What the hell happened to those faux bamboo picture tables? Now there is a TV??? The tables are turned differently? You cannot smoke a Volcano on the tables? Aw, man, this stinks. But this new layout . . . pass. I was ready to turn around and walk right out the door, but my group wanted to go. Hmm, to stick around, we had to purchase something. Might as well get the GS Cookies even though some prior reviews were less than stellar. Boy, I am glad I tried it. This stuff was great, great, great at night and early in the morning! Great indica. The South Park marathon playing Sat. and Sunday nights was great watching at night, and in the morning, it was relaxing enough that I didn't mind waiting on everyone to get ready.
To summarize, in order from best to blah (b/c no weed is really in a worst category):
1. Super Lemon Haze
2. Girl Scout Cookies
3. G13-Haze
4a. Chocolope
4b. Moby Dick
5. Ace
6. White Widow
7. Silver Bubble
Space Cakes
Bought 3 space cakes.
1. Paradox. I always like their little slice of pound cake. It is good. Ingested 1/2 before the night viewing at the Van Gogh. My friend ate 1/4 and was blitzed. My 1/2 created a nice buzz that helped when standing outside. Lord it was cold the nigh of March 25th!
2. Siberie. I really like their chocolate brownie. It is a true brownie. Good buzz, but not as strong as the pound cake from Paradox.
3. Rusland. Think slice of chocolate cake without the icing. It was fairly weak, but great flavor. My friend who could only eat 1/4 at Paradox ate 3/4 of this one and was just lightly buzzing.
