Episode 4/20 - The Crispy Menace

Post by OneHighMofo »

Here we go - the one we’ve all been waiting for! It’s April 18th around 3pm and I’m just finishing off my packing, I’ve got all manner of paraphernalia in an ISO bath in the ultrasonic cleaner - smartening up the gunky bits of the various vapes, pipes and nails I have to pack, making sure they’re super clean - along with all the other essential future stoner items I’m taking. Standing back and looking at it now - this could be a tall order at customs:

Hair straighteners; ok - not too bad. Plenty of blokes carry hair straighteners these days. The spanner in the works is that I have short straight hair. I’m not yet sure what the story will be if they ask me about those - perhaps I’ll be ironing some very small trousers? Tiny emergency sandwich toaster? I could always pack a tiny sandwich (or some tiny trousers) to make a convincing job of it.

I’m also laden with pre-cut sheets of PTFE and parchment for storing hash/pressing rosin. 25u micron screen for pressing hash Rosin. An induction heating coil and voltage controller (otherwise known as an e-nail) for my errrrrr - engineering project? Yeah that might work. I have the Mighty and the Crafty plus various quartz and titanium glass nails (aromatherapy devices). The icing on the cake, or spanner in the works dependent on your viewpoint - is a little smoking pouch with assorted pointy metal things (for rapping firmly on inquisitive customs officers foreheads - I daydream) and some pre-injection alcohol cleaning swabs for de-soiling said apparatus before the journey home; which doesn't make me look like an intravenous drug user - at all.

In fact - absolutely everything looks like it’s specifically designed to set alarm bells ringing at customs. Not least the silver trophy that says ‘1st place best coffeeshop’ on it.
Wish me luck!

I figure that at the worst case - I end up in Amsterdam on the next flight with belt and braces only - nothing that I’m carrying is actually illegal or immediately identifiable as paraphernalia when disassembled and mixed with other, less conspicuous travel items such as wash kits, camera and tripod equipment, my various batteries, charging leads and travel adaptors etc etc.
Even my trusty little steel pipe and the vapes break down into four parts that can be cleaned with Isopropyl and scattered about my bag - handy. Additionally - I have taken missed flight cover insurance (a steal at a tenner) which I’m told by the small print is good for ‘any reason’. One day - no doubt; I’ll get a chance to test that policy with all this laissez faire paraphernalia carrying attitude. Hopefully that day will not be today.

Also - I like to think that any airport baggage scanner operator that can indeed recognise an e-nail, or a vaporiser, or a quartz banger for its intended use - is clearly a Cannabis enthusiast and more likely to think ‘Go on lad' than inform their superiors of my presence - I hope. So I use that romantic notion of stoner camaraderie to fuel the calm that it takes to stride through customs carrying a cache of smoking devices without a care in the world.

Anyway, we’ll not dwell on that. Instead, let’s focus instead on the nice selection of hazes that came my way recently through a well connected source and has resulted in a hopefully - as yet TBC regular supply of these few strains the grower has been trying to perfect.
So I’m vaping on some cut-only Bodhi seeds Silver Mountain (SSH x Appalachia, this pheno is super heavy on the SSH end with a back-note of chemical cleaner from the Tres Dawg parent). Some nine week Amnesia (not quite sweet enough to be considered perfect for my tastes but she delivers a lovely savoury sage peppery spice that has that characteristic hint of cheese I spot from the skunkier phenotypes) from Royal Queen I believe. Finally - some cut-only Cheese Berry Haze (Bluecheese x Ladycane (SSH x G13)) from Sannies which is a cut direct from the man himself so I’m told.

The Cheese Berry Haze is unique yet subtlety flavoured the berries come through as blue and strawberry velvet in the throat. The cheese is subtle as a back-note yet somehow inexplicably manages to overpower the SSH and G13 which simply seem to add their helpful hint of sweet metallic spiciness rather than hog the palette as you might expect. The velvet exhale bottom is almost cake-like, somehow biscuity and savoury - combined with the other notes it’s reminiscent of a distant strawberry cheesecake. The flavour from the flowers are louder from the vape than when burnt - she has a subtle flavour anyway but makes up for that by being mind bunglingly strong in potency and has resulted in some outstanding Rosin which make a beautifully smooth (and SO much tastier than the original flowers) vape hit from the Mighty.
The lack of residue on the concentrate disc means I won’t have to re-clean the unit before flying either - so I load another one up for the road. Seems rude not to. I’ve got a few hours on the red-eye airport express to get through. May as well be as crispy as possible for the journey.

Bag packed? tickets, passport, money, reading fodder, undies ’n' socks ’n' bathroom shizzle? Check.
Now - sleep. 2:30am start.
Hmmm. Sleep seems highly unlikely…
I”m super excited! I’m going to meet over 24 ACD’ers in less that 24 hours :)

I roll a fattie of all three hazes and add a little Rainbow Jones (Connoisseur genetics GDP x Casey Jones) for extra dank fruit punch flavour.
I also press out a few bubble hash dabs from the Rainbow Jones to ensure there’s some body in this little trip I have lined up and set those three little soldiers up on the front line. Fuck it - let’s have a wax dab too and make it a four-way chaser. If that little lot doesn’t inspire shuteye then nothing will.

Sparking her I turn out the lights, put iTunes on random and hit the visualiser.
The J is beautiful, she tastes amazing and gives me a lovely warm body glow right from the get-go with a powerful head to match. I drink in her effects and savour her flavour delights. All four are distinct enough to pick out.
The sage spice of the Amnesia and the cheesy funk from the Cheese Berry at the middle with a backside of chemical astringent cleaner edge from the Silver Mountain which also delivers the sweet metallic top end. All rounded off nicely with the sweet and sour fruity purple gobstopper punch of the Rainbow Jones. Why haven’t I tried this 4-way before? Bloomin' wonderful.

I stretch the doob out so it takes the best part of an hour to finish off. Every 15 minutes or so I knock in a little dab and feel that cut through my smokers stone with a crisp and efficient vapour hit - the modulating effect of the CBD and CBN from the hash is just magic, Relaxant bliss. A well rounded profile of noids ’n’ terps i ponder - how very bloody satisfying indeed. I am well and truly crispy-as right now.

Before bed I've lined up a few bowls in various bongs and left them out ready for the quick fire shower/food/wake’n’bake/taxi and straight out the door routine. It’s sign-off time for this high-mofo. I’ll finish this first episode on the train later and hopefully publish it from the airport.

In the meantime - as a brief interlude enjoy some pics of the current stash that I took the other day. I’m hoping to capture some pics of the various bits I buy over the next few days so these are the test shots.

And last but not least - Miss Rainbow Jones.

Sleep came remarkably easily around 6pm so I'm fairly bright and breezy once I get settled on the train. Helped along magnificently by the missus staying awake to say goodbye (aaaahhh) and Bonghugs excellent travelogue. Both of which have given me a lovely warm glow. Maybe that was helped along by that gram of haze I've just smashed in :) but it feels symbiotic enough to me.

In wondering how long my buzz will last - lamenting the loss of endo cannabanoid therapy I remember the mighty. Loaded and waiting in my bag! Could today get any better?

Once mr ticket man has been along and done his ticketing duties, there are no other stops and I have the carriage to myself. The rosin only smells suspicious for a few minutes at most and there's two and a half hours of journey time ahead. I have a deodorant top-up just in case :)

So now I'm sat nice and crispy on the train pondering my potential purchases over the coming days - it’s been a great few weeks for updates on the forum, loads of great travelogues and detailed CS updates so as usual I have a bit of a wish-list.

It looks something like this at the moment:

Bagheera: I very rarely shop here, have never stopped here and looking at their menu I wouldn't mind trying their Somari at €14. They've had Tahoe OG on too and it's another strain I haven't had the pleasure of yet. She's €15.

I'd very much like to try something from El Guapo given some of the forum reports this year so far - I walked in last year and walked straight back out due to a huge queue so I’m keen to sample their wares this time and it's only round the corner from my hotel (no bulldog spot this time boohoo this will be a first!)

Voyagers have had Scotts OG on recently, one that I missed last time it was on.

Siberie's Nicole Kush at €16 and East Coast Sour Diesel at 13.50 and their Top Sahara Hash at €12 all sound interesting.

I think Macky has convinced me to give Green House another try as he's been bigging up their hash: looking at the menu - Super Critical at €13. NYCD at €15 might be worth a blast for old times sake.

1e Hulp's menu looks outstanding at the moment. Blackberry Kush at €15 is a definite. BC Bud for €10 - yes please - it's been a while for me and that familiar friend. Rascal OG and White Domina at €14 are both strains on the 'to-do' list.
1e's menu delivers like no other shop in this way for me. Large, varied, often unique (in Amsterdam) with a great spread of prices. If their finishing quality was 100% consistent I'd hands down be confident in giving them my personal first place award - for effort alone. Unfortunately; I haven't ever met a grower that could claim 100% consistency so I'm under no illusions that it's about to happen now. The up and down is all part of the fun to me. It's galling at times when a purchase goes wrong - but it makes the diamonds all the more special when found.

Old Church is an interesting place too. The menu looks pricey until you realise that most of the bags are 1.2 or more. Their menu has Cannalope Kush, Melon Haze, Sour Tangie and Rocklock all €16 for 1.2 or 1.3. More strains from the the todo list!

Boereojongens is another shop killing it right now in terms of variety. LA Cannalope Haze mmmmmm yes please! €12 - take my money! Mexican Cookies at €14 is VERY interesting - I love the Mexican haze vibe. Amazing Haze at €11 is a steal and frankly I couldn't pick between the wide variety of new Bloc hashes based on name alone so it will be down to whichever bloc looks and smells the best. Repeat trips may be in order.

Club Media's menu is another impressive affair: 90u Super Skunk Bubble hash at €50 is good value if it's a true 90 micron (often the very best grade) and their 3tje skunk#1 derivative at €11 is interesting as ever. They obviously have a skunk lover as the menu curator which i like as she's a much overlooked lady with a huge amount of variation and unexplored exotic appeal despite her years of service. Hidden depths has she (yoda smiley needed).

Dampkring's OG-Roccan €16 is a recent ACD forum recommendation alongside Tweede Kamer's C5 Pioneer hash - I want to make some Rosin from both of these.

Having typed all this - If previous trips are anything to go by; I won’t even buy 50% of this list. They’ll either be out of stock, the tubs will be all leaves and twigs and seeds and quite frankly by 11am on day one I’ll have totally forgotten about the list anyway as I’ll be one super high motherfucker.

Plus - every menu seems to completely blind me as I approach.
If there are any more than five strains on offer I enter a state of mild confusion due to over-stimulation - a fugue state of semi-panic mixed with wild excitement like a nervous lurcher, all legs and slobber and wagging tail - desperate for everything but not focussed enough to take it all in at once and make a rational decision. There are times I’ve been close to licking a bud tenders face.

'Follow the nose dude, follow the nose dude' my internal mantra reminds me. I often find myself buying the first thing that catches my eye then having to go away and have a smoke and think about what I should actually have bought.
That’s ok. I’m fine with that.

I want to step up my travelogue game this year with some pictures and a bit more flavour to the prose - so there may be a distinct lack of live blogging this trip and more taking notes for the rest of this little 4/20 tale - for once I may take the time to write the whole thing up in detail when I get back. Dunno - we’ll see.

This is something of a surprise trip - an impulse purchase so to speak. In my last travelogue back in December I’d told Macky that I would definitely not be coming to Amsterdam for 4/20.

If the missus and Macky and the rest of you hadn’t encouraged me - my resolve would have remained. Four trips last year was quite enough thank-you and the sensible thing to do would be to stay at home and earn some money and that’s what I intended to do. Not blow my savings up in smoke :) Anyway that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

I may sound slightly irked about this - yet here I am; sat on the red-eye again. Smirk on face, rosy glow from the wake and bake moving through me and lulling me back to sleep. Dreaming of thanking you all personally for the kind encouragement :) I haven’t been this excited about a trip to the ‘Dam for ooooh at least a minute.

This time is different though.
I'm going to put some faces to names I've been familiar with for many many years.

In some cases - for a decade or more. Bonkers.

My brother and I had been to Amsterdam individually (and him a couple of times) before we travelled there together and I remember that during our first trip the crew ribbed him mercilessly about the laminated ACD map he brought along. Of course this is pre google maps and smart phone days. Back in 2006 perhaps? Dunno - maybe he'll confirm. He was the big weed geek back then more so than me having discovered her delights about a decade earlier than me.

But oh boy did that map do us proud. We carried that laminated, skinned up on, eaten on, folded, shipped, stuffed and battered map all over Amsterdam for years. It was prized, championed and cheered whenever it appeared for its inaugural outing. It became a trusty companion and it never once let us down, although we thought it had and cursed it on a couple of occasions only to swallow our words later with the benefit of working out our own idiocy and seeming inability to determine east from west, north from south, arse from hole in the ground.

I still see people studying that map. Stood on an Amsterdam street corner, giggling, confused and red-eyed. I often think about approaching and helping with directions or just striking up a conversation about that map; but I always let it go preferring not to interfere - they'll find us when they're ready.

So most of all this trip - I'm looking forward to shaking hands with and saying a sincere thank-you to more than a few as yet unfamiliar faces.
I'm guessing that at the end of this little jaunt I'll be kicking myself for all those years of lurking.

Anyway, enough emoting. The airport looms... So close now!

Success!
I'm sat in the departure lounge. The guy in front of me at security had a terrible attitude and had his wrists slapped by the guard - 'I'm still talking to you - don't walk away'.Cue tuts and expletives and a subsequent total and utter buggering by the bag searchers - oh dear.

My bag is checked too - it was the IR heat gun that 'looked like a taser'. Fair enough I think - it bloody does as well :)

Amsterdam - here I fucking come. Brace thi'sen

A hightech assault by hash-crazed cannassassins. "The day we smoked Amsterdam dry" - I'll be able to say I saw it happen live on ACD!

@memogram :)
@spidergawd - missed you out there mate. Hope to catch you at some point this year.
@MrIncognito ‘a high-tech assault by hash-crazed assassins’. Love it! Apologies I didn’t deliver on the live blogging - things got a touch out of hand :)
@puffpuffgive - *high five* :)
@BongHug82 - The pleasure is all mine sir
@nathan420stoner - thanks dude - here you go…

I really appreciate the encouragement guys thank you - I don’t even have words for what an amazing trip that was.
I'm sat waiting for my gate to open at Schipol typing this - it's been a crazy four days and I am surprisingly sober given the carnage. Today has been relatively quiet despite the 10g deleuks and I have smashed in since noon. I've had chance to shape up my notes today so hopefully this report will do an amazing trip the justice it deserves, although some how I very much doubt it.

Thanks so much to all the ACD crew in attendance and again to Lemmimg for providing the forum that's bound us all together. It's been fantastic to meet you all and I hope to see you all again very soon.
Here we go...

Day 1
Finally! I've arrived. Amsterdam is bright, sunny and warm - I really could not be happier. the trip would have been fantastic under characteristic grey skies but this is just the icing on the cake. It’s not quite t-shirt weather yet but a bright blue sky and glorious sunshine accompanies the sharp spring wind and that’s just fine by me. I always find wearing sunglasses while high very conducive to an extra layer of comfort in the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam so on they go too. I still feel a little bit crispy but levels are going to require repletion soon. Very fucking soon.

My crazy railway themed hotel is directly opposite Central station - so I figure I'll take a chance on an early check in. It's an outside shot but at least I can dump my bag in their luggage room at the worst case.
Success! I really am winning today. The room, which is very small but impeccably clean and tidy is ready - it'll make a nice little base.
And when I say little - I mean small, minuscule In fact. Barely wider than a train carriage. There are comments about the place on Google from American tourists complaining that the rooms are better described as closets. Having seen the size of American closets I can see where they're coming from. Still - it's enough for this six footer so I'm content with the digs. A warm bed, a decent power shower in the wet room (essential) and a stopcontact (wall socket - cheers Deluesks) to charge my devices. Sound.

Checking in with Papi - he's in Eerste Hulp with Jdog, that’s too far out for me right now. No sooner would I get there then I’d have to set off back (oooh I love a bit of Yorkshire nonsense speak). You know what I mean.

The Voyagers meet is from 11:45 and it's getting on for 10am already. I decide to stock up for the trip and head around the corner to the headshop near Prix D'ami for a little Grace Glass recycler - a bit of haggling procures my prize for a decent 10% discount. Complete with a glass nail and dome plus a flower slide she’ll do the trick. I have her sister model at home so I'm hoping she'll perform just as well. They’re cheap and cheerful but often have a decent function, especially these little flavour savers.

Next job - buying trees.
El Guapo is nearby but isn't open till 6 goddammit.
Straight to Voyagers it is for a first smoke and to wait for the crew.
Did I mention it was lovely and sunny yet? What a cracking start to the trip.

Arriving at voyagers - the bad news is that Scotts OG is off the menu. Bah.
The good news is that Silver Bubble isn't.
The tray is full of huge hugs. There’ll be no complaining about ‘popcorn nuts though innit’ from the UK massive in this tray I note. Nothing but top quality two or three gram chunks that are silvery and reeking. She’s a light green lady with vibrant orange hairs - swollen calyx's dusted in trichomes. At this price she’s a steal.

I chat with Elliot a while about the pheno and he drops some much appreciated knowledge on me.
The bud I took a liking to weighed 2.5g and is beautiful. Fucking beautiful in fact. I don’t photograph her this time. But these nugs will be a multiple purchase over the next few days so there’ll be another chance.

The first purchase of the trip man - wow. I'm totally blown away by the quality - to say it’s an unexpected surprise is something of an understatement. The nose from the tray was good but I wasn't expecting what happens when I load the Mighty and spark the fattie I've just rolled. It's 'the' phenotype - the one I'm always banging on about here on ACD; the pheno my brother and I covet - my favourite strain of all time that I've only managed to find on three out of god-only-knows how many repeat purchases over the years.

Everything is coming up OneHighMofo today.

She is banging. Right up my straat. Candy middle with a skunky bass note and all silver sherbet and metallic edge at the top end. The candy notes are dark; not like the fizz of a super lemon or the tang of the purple strains. Dark and piney. I’m smoking some old school Bubblegum at home and it’s so obvious now I’ve got this phenotype in front of me again. There's no doubt in my mind about the genetics of this strain. She's bubblegum x SSH.

Potency wise she’s not as heady as her heritage would have you believe - really relaxing despite her parentage.
I make a mental note to press some Rosin out of her at some point - that HAS to be tried.

Silver bubble €11 Voyagers
8.1 - Crazy lucky first buy

Sitting in the window I spot two fine looking gentlemen outside - intuition tells me that this is indeed ACD in the area. I'll chill and see how the spidey-sense serves. Thirty seconds later and two more equally bodacious looking dudes approach and greet them. More ACD crew I deduce. This intuition is how I spotted ChopperMike last January and it's starting to get spooky. Apparently I can tell an ACD’er by sight alone!

It turns out to be Macky and drugs bunny - the latter of which doesn’t post here so much anymore; a real shame as it turns out this lad has impeccable tastes and a keen eye for an interesting buy. Between him and Danny they consistently hand me the things I wish I’d bought all week. Anyway I’m off track (sorry but I’m not sitting here sober while I type this - you know how it goes) Papi and Jdog are the other two dudes making up this early crew.

Stan and Smirks arrive pretty soon. Danny soon after - we've got a great little crew already and after some smokes and introductions and a brief interlude to see a man about a dog it’s time to begin the very important task of getting as crispy as it’s possible for a stoner to be.
Loose as a goose - as the very good friend of mine that coined both terms would say.
Lemming had mentioned earlier in the week that a nine hour crawl would be legendary (I think that was the word he used). At this point in the day I make a mental vow that would take us up to 9pm this evening; my guess is we’ll still be at it come 1am.

Other than my silver bubble purchase I tried a few other things from the menu in a few pure numbers that were doing the rounds.
The Sour walker was interesting, kinda kushy with sour candy vibe - I tried to research the genetics but can't find anything, as far as I can remember from the menu it's a DNA strain but don't quote me on that.

Jdog hands me a doob loaded with Rug burn OG which I'd passed over at the counter as I didn't get much on the nose. It smokes A LOT better than it smells. It has a really unique flavour which I almost never expect from an OG cross. This has Kosher in the mix I'm told by Elliot the BT so the loud flavours make sense but It's more complex than kosher. Sweet and sour, the gassy notes are subtle - replaced with a velvet smooth middle and a fruity roundness to compliment the citrus high notes. Impressive.

I'm suitably happy with everything I've tried from Voyagers so far. Their product seems entirely on point. Strong contenders for my remaining best coffeeshop vote.

So I get a bag of Kaligria at €14 which is listed as an exotic sativa. And so she is.
Behind the peppery and herbaceous spice and the usual sweet sugary top-end is a shade of sharp and sour. There are floral notes reminiscent of skunk and purple strains which lend the nose an individual character. Interestingly - later on in the trip Danny will tell me that he was really unhappy with the bag he bought and had it swapped by the bud-tenders as the ash was really dark and his bud did;t smoke well at all. That wasn't my experience of the strain so who knows what went on there... What i do know is that when i finally got a chance to sit and smoke with Danny later on in the trip we were totally agreed on the qualities of the finish for everything else we smoked so I guess we’ll rack that one up to the gods of ‘fuck knows’.

Kaligria €14 I think - voyagers
7.85 Interesting, certainly very interesting.

Unfortunately at some point someone that I can't recall hands me a joint mixed with Tobacco. Unthinkingly I hit it twice and am feeling nauseous within seconds. Bad times. I roll another doob and vape some more. It helps and the sickness subsides eventually. Mental note to self - don't assume. Ask.

Deleukstenugs16 shows before long - it's great to catch up with him, always fun to be around he’s a great laugh and a top conversationalist when it comes to probing all the topics other than weed I love to witter about. We shoot the shit quickly but then it’s suddenly all go and we duck out to meet someone.

The crew are heading to 137 so Papi joins us for a quick dab. There are loads of samples from testing packs from one of the cups being passed around and there's all sorts of concentrated madness going on. We procure some more goodies. Super Lemon Wax, and a lovely bag of SSH which we’ll debate about for days as to whether it’s really SLH, or even Strawberry Haze.
Or rather it might be more accurate to say that I’ll bang on about it like a broken record. ‘We debate’ might have been a bit plural there.

When we finally get to Coffeeshop 137; I remember the recommendation from not_the_monk so Deleuks and I do some shopping - the first of many trays we'll get excited about over the coming days.

The shoreline looks exquisite - almost totally purple like I've never seen her before - the signature notes are there but burgamot and lavender are complimented by lime, grapes and red berries on the nose. I choose the best looking nug which turns out to weigh just over a gram. I should have photographed that tree. She was a cracker. As you might imagine - smoking her seemed like a better idea at the time.

She doesn't disappoint on the palette either. All of the flavours on the nose come through and we're spitting superlatives in moments. As usual - in potency terms she isn't massively strong. But the choice doob and enough to keep us crispy. Texturally it's nice and dry and still a little sticky. The grinder smells unbelievable. I'd criticise the flush only marginally and I'm only nit-picking because it's so close to perfect. Excellent. Buy some.

Shoreline €15 I think - Coffeeshop 137
8.1- Excellent

It's a great dab and doob session at 137 - all the crew is here and more have arrived. First born and buddy are here - lovely lads and I think we’ve gained Occasional Bowl and a couple of other guys into the group by this point too. By the time Papi, Deleuks and I are sitting down - the whole seated area at the back of the shop is ACD. Loads of pure fatties are passed back and forth way and I've only a vague idea of what they were. I definitely remember smoking more of voyagers menu plus some stuff bought elsewhere by members that had been in town longer.

Unfortunately in my stoned state I mistakenly carb the nail on Deleuks rig with an acrylic plastic pot which instantly burns in a ring of melted plastic to the nail edge. I’m so used to using heat proof silicon pots for doing this that I don’t think twice and before I know it there’s a full on party-fail on my dial. No-one wants burnt plastic in their lungs and it's a good job I have my nails so we can keeps the dab train running.
I'll replace the botch-job for him later no bother and Delueks is typically easy going about the mistake. What a lad. The session goes on barely phased. We’re professionals - getting the job done.

From here the plan is to have a nice walk to Boerejongens central - Papi is keen to buy some of their Blo hashes for rosin pressing later. Those buying go in and do their shopping - deleuks and I take the opportunity to eat a healthy wrap and juice getting some much needed sustenance into our bellies. The crew comes back together in Hunters Bar for more dabs chats and doobs. Another great session ensues - there's loose talk of heading to De Pijp but in the end we realise that there's no time. The T&T at Utopia beckons.

Heading back north, I realise how absolutely twatted I am. Town is PACKED and there are fairground rides in Dam Square which makes keeping the group together difficult. Papi is doing and excellent job leading at the front (something of a theme for the trip) and Gapie is doing a cracking job herding the stragglers at the back. I have no head how we keep the group together on that walk. It was totally surreal and I giggled the whole way back. Somewhere around the RLD the group splits to do their various things. Deleuks and I head uptown to buy a new dab nail and then quickly swing past the cannabis college to grab his oft-abandoned bike.

After ambling about the RLD with a doob and a vape going in tag-team - giggling and shooting the shizzle for a while we finally arrive at the next T&T. Utopia is full of ACD in no time. I think this is the first place I bump into TT this trip. We'll have a chance to talk, smoke and get to know each other better later on in the trip but it’s good to see him and his lovely wife. They’re also in town in a judges capacity.

Hello’s over and done with - deleuks and I go shopping. The super silver bubble smells incredibly disappointing. No bueno. I was hoping that would be a highlight, the BT tells me honestly and frankly that she’s disappointed too. The menu is soon redeemed however - immediately as the tub of tangerine dream is opened we instantly know what's happening.
Let's skip straight to the review...

In a word. Incredible.
In a fattie she’s darker than I expected and has an incredibly loud terpene profile - she’s an insane bouquet of rotten oranges and pond scum funk. The best example of the strain I've ever bought. By a country mile. Vaping the stuff fares just as well - this will be a repeat purchase I'm sure. In the bag she’s dark green, not overly dusty and looks a little straggly but she grinds well and packs a cheeky little potency punch.

The orange flavour isn’t a pleasant one - but the overall effect is awesome and intensely satisfying. A little odd yes - but awesome never-the-less. I’ll sweeten her out later in a salad with a choice haze. From the vape she’s just mind-twistingly loud. I ponder if she’s the Barney’s strain? The name matches but I never get around to asking Ingi.

Tangerine Dream - €don't know Utopia
8.1 - Rotten oranges for days

Utopia becomes a massive sesh, we press out loads of rosin from various block hashes for us and the lads. Some AK-OG, SLH bloc from Boerejongens get squished to fantastic yield results. Personally I’m not a fan of the taste of these hash rosins I’ll discover through the week as I think the flower notes are lost to the overpowering Moroccan genetics that are clearly pollinating the crops.

Despite my misgivings on the product - this turns out to be a useful session as it sets a few lads up with some rosin stash for the week. Deleuks and I press out some flower rosin from the 5g SSH bag I'm rocking - for me, those flower rosin hits turn out to the best dabs of the day (and those flowers easily the best value and amongst the best product of the trip).

At this point in the trip (and my experience in general) I've still to try BHO that can best the taste of flower rosin.

Enough doobs, dabs and bongs are hit in this session to take a herd of stampeding rhinos down. It is utter carnage but somehow we manage to hold down the production of Rosin despite being baked as billy goats. It seems that both Voyagers and Utopias products are on point this week.

My final vote will be a close call.

I grab a 2g nuglet of Utopias champagne haze just before we leave. Plenty of this stuff has gone around and I want my own stash. It’s fucking unbelievably good. Probably better than the Silver Bubble by all rights, at least she’d probably impress more people.

Genetically she’s said to be linked to SSH but is cut-only so we can only offer conjecture - but that’s what I taste. SSH with a dry, hashy middle that compliments the sherbet fizz. She really does taste like champagne. The flush is impeccable. Totally smooth. Expensive probably but who cares when the quality is this good on a clone only strain. This is head stash - pure and simple. Better than Medias example that I bought last year.

Champagne Haze - €nofuckingcluedespitebuyingaquarterounceofthestuffoverfourdays Utopia
8.1 Exquisite.

So - it’s getting late now. We’ve smashed that nine hour barrier and it’s on to Batavia for the last session of the day.
By this time it's 11pm and I'm pooped - I’ve been awake nearly 24 hours now and have been smoking since I got out of bed all those hours ago apart from a five hour travel break.
I have no idea how much I’ve smoked at this stage. Tons of wax, loads of rosin dabs, bubble hashes, gram doob after gram doob. I’ve probably easily nailed nearly a good 10g of flowers and probably 20 dabs today - plus what everyone else has passed me I'm fucking baked. Still what a session - And it's great to finally meet Lemming! Unfortunately I’m too high to have anything approaching an intelligent interaction but it’s all good. There are lots of smokes, dabs, edibles and bongs going round - I have very little idea what I smoked at all. Although there are some memorable bits - I know we tried some Casey Jones, Some Silver Kush (also on the list) and some Scotts OG from Delueks personal stash, all three particularly nice.

Come 12:30am Tuesday morning I'm done - I can't take any more. I say my goodbyes and leave. Boy do I have the munchies. I head directly for pizza, then a waffle with fruit and ice-cream, then more pizza. Then a mars bar. Now. Only now can I rest.
On the way back to the hotel I have the quintessential canal experience - testament to how high I am at the time, it takes me a full two days to remember this happening.

As I’m approaching the corner of Koestraat there are a couple of English lads in their twenties in front of me standing at the edge, with their backs to the canal. Both are clearly wankered on alcohol. Eyes and balance akimbo. Intellect barely intact.
As I get nearer - I hear one slur to the other ‘I’m going’.
‘No don’t’ His mate replies - but it’s too late.
The kid takes two steps backwards and his being is immediately replaced by a loud slap and a splash of water to the total bemusement of his mate who is stood mouth agape.

'I’m not fucking going in after him' I say ’fish the silly bastard out’.
Leaning over the edge a few yards further down I can see the daft cunt clinging to the side of the canal wall trying to haul his sorry arse out - he has no chance as his arms are jelly and his legs no better. By this time his mate is reaching down for him and he’s measurably less submerged in water than he is a fucking idiot so my work here is done. He’s become an instant tourist attraction. The cops haven’t shown yet and I very much doubt he’ll get a lift home when they do arrive - which is only a matter of time as his mate is equally inept so a lone rescue seems unlikely. This poor fool has a very cold trip back to his hotel I ponder. Choose your drugs wisely kids.
I’d like to help - but I choose not to let these two dimwits drag me down to their level - or in the canal. So tonight I’m the bad samaritan that filed under ‘fuck that’.

Chuckling away I amble back to the hotel and shower.
Bed. Coma. What a day. Can tomorrow top this?

OneHighMofo wrote:Here we go - the one we’ve all been waiting for!

Before bed I've lined up a few bowls in various styles. You can buy bongs from herb tools. I left them out ready for the quick fire shower/food/wake’n’bake/taxi and straight out the door routine.

So cool, I love a good story!
