so i'm new here i'm not supposed to yell "T*R*O*L*L* even when someone proves they are baiting by asking the dumbest questions possible about a post to tie people up into repeating bullshit ad infinitum (like we all can sit all day in front of the screen bithching at others, like some do)?
i didn't know the rules
then I am going to steal this:

this #6 has it all over Patrick McGoohan (now that's dating meself), proving once again Canada rocks
& thanx to 711 for the 411 for newbies the key ones to ignore/avoid -- i think i'll add a couple of others to my personal list altho as a newbie it took me awhile to know who the hell y'all meant when you kept saying "TK" -- i guess sorta like Harry Potter, if you don't say the devil's name he just gets more power, ehhhh?

Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so.

I hope you realise I have been avoiding the arg.clinic like the plague.
The only time I have been there at all was when someone told me about pics., which I have not commented on in the clinic or in PM's to you.
Sorry all this crap is continuing, but I am staying out of it, no matter how much bait they have been setting out.
Peace with Honor; twitch

Old School and Proud of It.
What you resist persists. What you look at disappears.
Saying we're going to ignore another is meaningless when that is other is simply mirroring a part of us.
We can ignore ourselves...up to a point. This is often called repression. The result is not pleasant. Imagine a blocked pipe that gradually increases in pressure until.... Well you get the picture. This explosion could be obvious, as in the mad shooting rampage. Or it could be more subtle, as in the heart attack, or the appearance of a cancer.
It has been said that insanity is trying to do the same thing over and over again, while expecting different results.
If this is true, then, most of humanity is insane. Somehow we are convinced that restictions, rules, and punishments, are going to solve our problems. The fact that we have been using these methods for millenia without success, however, is seldom recognized.
Not only do we behave insanely, though, but we also lie to ourselves about what we are doing so that we can create the illusion that we are not behaving insanely.
It has been mentioned by many on this site, for instance, about how things are done on other sites. It has been said that they have monitors who go over threads and spot trouble makers and ban them. These sites, it is claimed, don't have trouble. They are peaceful havens.
But this idea is no more than a happy illusion. The truth is that other sites do have the same problems. If they didn't they would have no need for moderators. The truth is that, even the "regulars" who get accepted have vileness and insults simmerting beneath the surface. The fact that they have such a hard time with people like TK here is ample evidence of that fact. Thus, these sites have solved nothing, only postponed it.
The difference, however, between those sites and this one is that they have decided that the solution to the problem is to hide it and cover it up, close the valve on the pipe tighter so that the steam does not escape. The fact that this increases the overall pressure does not seem to enter our awareness when we partake of this happy illusion of problem solving. The fact that the increase of pressure results in more release in places like this forum that actually allows people to express their repressed selves does not occur either.
When we follow this happy illusion we are convinced that every site should close every valve. We become people who are "shocked" by high school shootings while, at the same, endorsing the conditions that engender them. It is not because we are bad people. It is not because we don't care. Indeed, all of us care a great deal. It is because we have been raised in a society that is partly insane and we have either failed to notice, or not had to courage to face, the fact of that insanity.
This is one part of the insanity. Our society teaches us that some parts of ourselves are bad, and must be resisted and never expressed from the earliest age. The angry self and the sexual self are two of the most obvious and most destructive examples. Thus, from the earliest age, we struggle to repress these parts of ourselves and from the earliest age, pressure builds in those pipe. Some people manage to go most of their lives keeping that valve closed and they are praised and held out as good examples to follow even if the struggle to hold it all in has resulted in a relatively bitter, disillusioned, and passionless person. Most people, however, break at some point into various outbursts of uncontrolled energy along the way. Men lie to their wives for months and years in order to have affairs. Bosses shout obsenities at employees for arriving a few minutes late. Net posters go off their rockers at the words of other net posters. Sometimes these outbursts are highly deviant. We live in a world of serial killers and child molesters. Something must be done!
This is where a second insanity comes in. Rather than do something to constructively use the pent up energy that results in such deviance, we add more pressure to the valve! Restrict them further! Punish them more severely! That's the answer we are given. And we are given it as if there is no other possible solution! It's a kind of accepted fact like the earth is round and the sun rises in the east. We need more control of others! We need more police! We need more moderators! Meanwhile, we are creating more "trolls", more criminals, and more terrorists. We have failed to realize that the true evil is not in ourselves, but in our idea that evil even exists and that we have to restrict ourselves in order to prevent it. In The Beginning, evil did not exist. By attempting to root evil out, however, we have created it. By rooting it out with greater force and conviction, we likewise place it in our reality with greater force and conviction.
The answer is not to close all of the valves! Have any of you heard of armageddeon and the end of the world? Not to be overly dramatic, but that is what is likely to happen if this kind of thinking continues to dominate human consciousness given the destructive power potential of our current state of technology. The solution is, firstly, to never stop letting any aspect of human nature be repressed from the start. And secondly, to allow those who have spent entire lifetimes repressing themselves (which includes just about ebery one of us) to find ways to constructively release the pressure without fear, judgment, or condemnation, and without harming others.
What you resist persists. What you look at disappears. It is time for humanity to take good long look at itself and, instead of hiding in fear, and editing out what we don't like, embracing it with love and confidence.
The future evolution of the human race on this planets rests in human beings realizing this.
