this morning I told my boss that I'm not coming to the office in the next 2 days.
Instantly I left work, packed my bag at home and went to the train station.
Where to go?
Amsterdam? Would be the obvious choice.
Thinking about the last Amsterdam trip - it was ACD 420, great trip but sadly overshadowed by some not-so-great personal issues - I remembered how I missed the trip to Haarlem on Aprils 21st.
Haarlem. The "small version of Amsterdam" with the great coffeeshop scene I've heard a lot about. The city where coffeeshops can have up to 1000g instead of 500g in their shops, thanks to Nol van Schaik and his great efforts ("Keurmerk") for the coffeeshops in Haarlem.
So I whip out my phone and book some train tickets to Haarlem.
On the train, I managed to book a hotel/hostel in Haarlems city center, at "Grote Markt". Hotel Carillon. Looks pretty basic and a bit shabby, but hey, single budget room, 2 nights, 92€, breakfast included. Good!
Right now I'm on the train, crossing the German-Dutch border in about 20 minutes. Will arrive in Haarlem around 8pm (chose a very cheap, but not so fast train route).
Will keep you guys updated. First attempt at doing a "live travelogue".
I will try my very best to do pictures and include them, but please bear with me, there will be some very good stuff to smoke I reckon
