CopenhagenCouple will be back in the 'dam wonderland August 1st to 9th, sooooo close already! :D

FBN: would you please post us on Who’s in Town, we’ll check in and maybe suggest a T&T or two when we get a little closer?

It's been seven long years (we figure) since we last had the pleasure of visiting. Although we can deduce that things have changed since then we also sense that there are still many of the wonderful times to be had we so very much love and miss about the great city and the excellent people there!

Obviously, we plan to visit quite a few CS’s in those nine days, so here is a short-ish list of places to revisit or experience for the first time:
Oldies but goldies:
Green Place – always got great gear from here, although we only stumbled upon it on our few last visits
Tweede Kammer / Damkring – usually on of the best selections overall ioho (especially on hash), although quite pricey
(Nes) – we know, we know – but ” ”
Katsu – one of the absolute top shops in the city wrt value, service, mood and much more
Grey Area – pricey, but great service and killer green, hash selection also usually does not disappoint
Amnesia – the mood and location is hard to beat, although the service from time to time gets a little stiff, upper range gear but not in the top for sure
Greenhouse – we don’t like much of the stuff people get prissy about either, but can’t fault the gear if you know what you are looking for (the prices could really do with a knock down though, but F-it, we are on holiday and dammit if we don’t deserve it!)
Barney’s – very similar to Greenhouse wrt pricing and other issues, but it has been a favorite for one of the first stops after arriving – the one on Harlemmerstraat (at least used to be) open quite early and have good but pricey gear. We almost always grab some first-buy-stash here, toke up and hit Greenhouse down the street for breccies and another toke or three before we go check in to wherever we are lodged for the stay. There are few things better to welcome you to the ‘dam than a (fairly) decent breakfast and a big fat one with a load of barney’s rubble, immediately followed by another, and another, and… ;)
Dolphins – Mostly for the location (in lack of better alternatives, at least ones we have to discover), the nice (although a bit kitschy) décor and the Verdampers downstairs on those awesome and funky light plates (if they are still there)
Bushdoc – Ice, Ice baby
Bluebird – Great, great deals, very good gear at the price level, spacious and fun. Could do without the pre’s, but you can’t have it all…
…and maybe Basjoe – unsure here, Basjoe was our #1 after Nes gave up the license, but we here it is under new management(?!) and are afraid to ruin the good memories by going to a place that possibly has changed much… James was prolly the best BT in the city ioho after Nes shut down and we couldn’t get our gear-by-Dave!

New shops:
De Graal
Tertuila
Paradox
Voyagers
Boerejongens

Suggestions, comments, input from eloquent master debaters as well as lude proposals from elegant masturbators are welcome, as is tradition…

With that long a visit you should do a side day or half day trip to Haarlem.

Haarlem coffeeshop maps:

Well worth the 10€ return ticket

Enjoy

Frak, screwed the pooch on that link, well that figures after seven years away from the forum.

But thanks though for reminding us, 1e Hulp is deffo a shop we aim to return to, big omission there although we’ve had mixed experiences with the reception there had a “what are you doing in here?” kinda fell once, the other time not so much.

Quick question though, we can’t seem to find it on the map, remember it as being close to either GA or 2e kammer. Now we can’t spot it anywhere near, are we going blind, really missing it on the memory part or some third option?

FBN: Thnx for posting and the Haarlem tip, we went there back in 2004-2005 (-ish, stoner memory) and had a good time at WW and a few other places. Especially the big one with the roof terrace was really nice and cozy, just got freaked the fuck out by that big fireman statue right next to the stairs. I (Mr. CC) kept sitting down so it was right in my peripheral view and I kept mistaking it for an actual dude sneaking up on me. Not that I was really para or anything, just kept jumping a good half a meter out of the seat and remembering on the way down that it was just our friendly polyethylene fireman.

That, and our two rather fit male friends comparing nipples trying to find out which of their pairs would fetch the best price in the RLD later that night, made it rather memorable.
Backstory just to clarify that we are not completely off the deep end, just getting close: they had the previous night quite randomly been offered about 10 € to show one of their nipples to a trio of two rather intoxicated ladies in their late 40’s and their boy-toy of about 25. Being rather game fellas and a little business-savy the both of them, they tried to haggle the price and scared of the potential customers.

They were, however, not the quitter-types so they were quite busy most of the trip to Haarlem strategizing for their new big business adventure in the RLD. Needless to say their little foray into street based male stripping got cut short, among other things by the fact that one of the pair could not keep awake because of the green (have pics showing him fast asleep, sitting fully upright, hands on head, at Nes about onesies in the afternoon, he got up at eleven  ).

The other one by the way up and vanished for a solid two and a half day (he had the car keys among other things), right up till a day and a half before we had to leave for home. Turns out he discovered Leidseplein and were at the hostel all the time, but only to sleep it off for a few hours during mid-day when the rest of us were out and about. Good times, good times.

Motto for this trip should definitely be out with the old and in with the new, a lot of the ones I see on there are respectfully to say, past their glory days.

I see that your to try list sports most of my favorite spots including Boerejongens and De Graal. Voyagers is also a solid bet as well, many on here will tell you Utopia, I'm not personally one-hundred percent sold on them, but alas 'tis the beauty of opinions and how the vary!

For value the best shops are probably going to be Boerejongens number one hands down, I personally find the Stud in east Amsterdam to offer a reliable product at an honest price, others may disagree on that. I would recommend adding that one to your list as well if you have the time and volition.

Het Ballonnetje if you haven't been is worth taking a gander as well, they've usually got good value as well.

If you're after high-quality Maroc then I would recommend going to West Amsterdam, if you search around here you should find some of my posts about the know moroccan owned establishments.

1e Hulp, haven't been for at least a month if I'm honest though from instagram their menu seems to have some potential. I would always keep that one on the list.

Paradox is one the top coffeeshops for chilling and has great staff, product is meh if I'm honest, though I like their pure bio-outdoor joints for 3 euro if I wanna smoke a cheap joint. Lots of volcanoes for your vaping pleasure available.

De Graal also great staff, some not too bad on the eyes ;) The coolest interior vibe of any coffeeshop for sure, great hash, weed, and ice-o-lator. Laxest of any shop. I would probably quote them as my top CS in NL at the moment, but that's something that fluctuates, kinda like Trump's alleged net worth ya know?

Easy Times, good top end strains. Think green place quality and prices with a much more honest staff and less sleazy vibe. Their Kosher Kush is all I've tried thus far, was pricey but some of the better sample of the strain I've tried 'round these parts. Will be back eventually to sample some of their OG Reek'n...

Mr. K & Co. most comfy seating in a CS, the interior is cool looking to, chic, modern, smart, and minimalist. Only been once or twice, they sell fresh frozen ice-o-lator rosin aka Frozin tech, which I haven't tried their's specifically but if it comes from where I think it does, then it should be amazing. They have a nice selection of Devil's Harvest strains though some have said the versions from Green P and E times are better then the Mr. K's ones, dunno... Also I hear the lady budtender is a real bitch so be wary ha

Beyond Amsterdam and further afoot - I recommend CS t' Grasje in Utrecht, good bud and hash, honest staff and by far the strongest edibles at any CS in Holland for a more than honest price (4-5 euro depending on batch).

Well that's all I got for now will amend with more later if it comes to mind. Hope this helps, happy hunting!

Thanks a bunch DeLeukeste, great stuff and really appreciated!

Will add your suggestions to our list and take a good look at your posts about those shops in West dam, have never had top maroc from maroccan shop. We get really top stuff in Christiania but not entirely on the level of the best stuff we have so far found in the dam, but for sure way above what you risk getting in a tourist trap place in the dam.

With respect to the shops on the revisit list we are reconcidering a few of them after going through some more of the recent posts here. Reconcidering dolphins (Easy times being so close and dolphins generallyhaving such medium quality), tweede (can get good hash other places), amnesia, bushdoc (better places 4 ice we can tell), greenhouse.

Anyone have a good bet for an early stop near cetraal when arriving at half nine-ish and a good place for breakies that is smokers friendly and open at nine or a little later? That would be as an alternative to barneys / gh on haarlemmer...

Thanks again for all the great input, hope to have to chance to catch some of u guys for a t&t this time around or next, would be great t say thanks in person, share a few on us and shot the shiz a bit...

BTW: sitting @ cafe nemoland on Christiania with the sun out and really good gear on the table typing this, it is quite the "extracurricular activity" for a visit to Amsterdam going to Copenhagen, but if u chance to be in the neighborhood this place is so worth a visit! ;)

Further on the travel plans:

Accommodation is going to be a little different this time around, and a split deal. We have previously gone with the hostel / “hotel” option, cheaping out a bit to allow for an extra-large budget for goodies.
This time around we thought we might do things a little differently. We were on quite short notice so the houseboat idea was seemingly out of option unless we had to rally dish out the €s.

We did, however, find a very nice and cozy apartment in the northern KG area just on the edge of the Jordaan. It was a bit pricey, but that is what you get when you figure out you wanna go about a month out.

So the plan is to spend the first few days at the uptown piggy near Vondel, getting reacquainted with the city and meeting a lot of new, interesting peeps. About midweek we’ll move to the apartment and have it all to ourselves, homecooking and everything. It is going to be soooo sweet!

Thanks matty, and you too man! ;)

A T&T would be nice, do you have any preferences with respect to time and place?

We are quite flexible, except the fifth around noon where we have to change to the apt. The 1st I guess we plan to stick around the southern areas (de pijp, AC, KG areas).

Peace and good tokes,

La Grotte on Haarlemmerstraat would be my tip for an early 420 friendly breakfast. Not exactly a bastion of chic Dutch decor - it has some err character let's say. But the good is decent, staff pleasant and yep you can blaze. On a hot summer day the entire front will be open. Great people watching at good prices
