Hate to be the bearer of bad news but ole Broodje Bert is at least temporarily on hiatus.

Either the business was lost in someway or they're doing extensive renovations from the look of things. Does not look like it will be reopening its doors anytime soon.

No explanation of the closure was proffered on their door/window so to the Bert faithful I recomend hunting down their google or facebook page for the full scoop as I simply can't be arsed!

these huge horrible corporations move in and the REAL bakers
and individually owned, uniques shops get driven out of business

That one sad smuck from the Dunkin nuts article must be completely daft if he thinks they are the caviar of donuts​!

A Dunkin opened last year in Cph Central station and we tried it, once. It is really hard to find much worse than the shite they offer up, most bake-off sales at low cost supermarkets have better for half the price, tops.

Also, a shame on any Amsterdammer daring to mention a donut shop without shouting for all to hear the obligatory "All hail and remember the one and only, provider of the golden donuts of bliss, fryer of the gods, glazer of the heavens, for ever rembered" before bowing their heads for the ritual mumbling of grudges and donut related curses, interrupted at appropriate intervals by the crying of "why did you leave?", "are we no longer worthy?" and "come back, come back, oh chicky come back!"!!!

They might succeed, they might not. I hope there isn't as much demand for them as they think. The problem is, there will be a considerable amount of demand for them in Amsterdam, because of the sheer number of tourists who will opt for what they're familiar with. Which will give the Dutch more reason to hate even those of us who wouldn't patronise them.
